Crazy how subjective art is. When I saw the Utopia I immediately thought it was absolutely gorgeous. The intentionality and analogue nature is what leaves an impression on me. I normally think hyper cars are excessive and gaudy but Pagani is consistently a manufacturer that wows me. I cannot imagine this guy thinking it’s ugly, but to each their own.

When I first looked at the Utopia I had the same reaction. Now looking at it a while longer I absolutely love it. It feels like a more mature car. A design that grew with its creator over time. It's truly a timeless creation, that I think will stand the test of time beautifully. A design only Pagani could have pulled off.

Sure, Koenigsegg is among the first to utilise that overall concept in a high-performance application, but that isn't as much of a revolution as it is an evolution (if you stretch it a bit).

My opinion is the Pagani Utopia to me was an absolutely beautiful car seeing it on Shmee's channel a few days ago. The mirrors were the one thing I didn't think fit. However I didn't notice some of the elements you pointed out. I still think it's a beautiful car though.

The mirrors on the Huayara themselves can be in a modern art museum. Lucky The Hamilton Collection (His pagani has been on strads channel) is near me and I was luckt enough to see his Pagani and the mirrors popped out too me immediately.

I really love the Utopia. I wasn't sure about the front end too at first, but seeing all the details and taking the time to understand the idea behind the vision of the car made me absolutely love it. If you compare it to the cc850, its for sure different, but its also two completely different philosophies. I also feel like the Zonda was always the more desirable Pagani, the most iconic one, and the Utopia has so much Zonda dna into it which makes me so excited to see the different variations that will come up in the future. If you remember, when the Huayra came out, people weren't convinced about the design too, because it looked so different from the Zonda, but after a while it grew on people. Also, they took six years to make it, it was for sure not rushed haha.

So I agree with you on the exterior. But ugly cars at first sight end up changing and becoming some of the most beautiful vehicles. As you mentioned, the Huayra itself is one of those cars. But the best example is the McLaren P1. That car divided the car world, with some people losing faith in McLaren design, but as time continued, it ended up arguably being the most beautiful car from the 2010s

I feel like a new generation flagship car should look undoubtedly like that company, but also look nothing like the previous generation. No they don’t need to create something like the new jesko, if you want a jesko you buy a jesko, that’s a fucking different philosophy the jesko and pretty much as every koenigsegg is a low drag, drag race monster with innovative parts, the pagani simply don’t want to be like that they want to be the best you can have from a classical style car. The fact that you are even comparing the two cars has no sense, if I wanted to buy a car for example i would have bought the jesko if I wanted that concept of cars or i would have bought the utopia if wanted that completely different concept of cars.

In my opinion Pagani Utopia is hands down THE BEST hypercar of 2022. No stupid edginess, no stupid cheap looking blacked out bits and pieces all over the car, no stupid oversized huge mouth grille, no alien looking vertically stretching headlights. It's basically perfect. It's what a real deal is supposed to look like - pure and complete. As a 90's kid I can't look at those modern super- and hypercars and not see a crackhead's drawing of an expensive car.

I didn't like it at first, because I'm a Huayra fan boy so something new would be weird. But now looking back on the design, it just looks incredible and very timeless. In this day and age of supercars/hypercars it seems like everyone is competing for the cleanest and most futuristic and edgy look. Getting a CC8S will be very hard. Only 6 made, 2 upgraded to CCR leaves 4 cars. One was crashed but is restored. All in Europe, 3 are owned or at least located in same Swiss garage, one is in Danish collection. There has been hints that one of the 3 Swiss cars will bet rebuilt to different spec, possible the flat-12 ("CC12") engine Koenigsegg originally planned for but only tested in prototype. CCR is basically the same car as CC8S with upgrade engine (two centrifugal compressors instead of single twin-screw) and some minor aero changes and there 14 of those around, including the two upgraded CC8S. Neither of these two models is available in US-spec.

I love Koenigsegg as much as the next car guy but I'd want an SSC, Bugatti, Pagani, etc because they all offer a different experience.

I couldn't agree with you more, my jaw completely dropped when I saw the Koenigsegg CC8 50. Really disappointed with Pagani. Retro throwback, specifically the interior. Very 60s inspired but it's not working. Way to busy. Empirically it lost that natural organic continuity like the CC8 50.

Yep this one painted white every inch of the car! Of course it looks weird! I think pagani deliberately did it wait till carbon fibre exsposed and half carbon and paint! Carbon splitters side skirts rear wings then you will see what it's made for! Once customer specced cars are out then everyone will go I was wrong it looks amazing! It looks like A true track weapon! And most including me didnt like huayra but now love it! If the car they showed was a carbon fibre masterpiece it would be a different story!!

Koenigsegg has been on another level for the past decade when it comes to engineering, tech, and design. Sure Pagani has the whole quirky mysticism of Horacio but that only goes so far when you're competing against the raw automotive prowess of the man that we know as Christian Von Koenigsegg

A concern of mine regarding Pagani was with the new Codalunga. It’s $7.4 million for a rebodied Huayra, which is insane regardless of how limited the production will be. Bugatti are also doing the same with cars like the Mistral. Most of these hypercars are just overpriced variants of already existing cars, rather than being new and bespoke models.

As someone who has never even experienced a hyper car, I can’t really give an in depth opinion on which brand is better or worse. However, after watching doug demuro do an in depth video on both the Agera Rs1 and the Chiron, I really started to have more interest in koeinigsegg because of how aggressive the car is in every aspect. In my personal opinion though I think Bugatti is made for the super rich guy that’s not a car guy and Koenigsegg is made for the super rich guy that is a car guy. Oh and paganis are just pieces of art on wheels.

As I've said in other Utopia videos, the CC850 is one of if not THE most perfect throwback designs of any previous car from a manufacturer ever. Everything on the Pagani is busy. They've always been a bit busy-ish, especially since the Huayra, but this takes it a step too far. All the weird surface types, shapes, and transitions on the front half and top side of the car.... The wheels... Spelling out words on a control panel and in sort of odd, busy font, when icons on the buttons would suffice just adds to all of it. They said they wan't to make things simple... Then made everything on the interior so simple it became too complicated. Nothing of the vehicle's design seems cohesive. The rear is the only side of the vehicle I like, and it's because it has the fewest lines and surface transitions and cleanly disguises things like active aero. Highlighting every touch makes things so busy and distracting that nothing is the highlight... That's the front of the Utopia in a nutshell.

In *my* opinion this is the most beautiful Pagani ever made. I love everything, absolutely everything, I liked how exotic every part of the car is, from the front details to the body contours on the wheels. the only thing that bothers me is the fact that this is the successor of Huayra, when in fact it looks like a "Retro" Huayra, or some other special edition of the existing model.

The Utopia is objectively a great design, whether you like it or not. Any mature car enthusiast could see that... This is coming from a guy who owns 3 Cressidas, a Laurel and a shuttle Civic. I don't even like sportcars in general, but I do appreciate them.

100% agree on all your criticisms of the Utopia, in fact they practically mirrored every one I had after I saw it for the first time. It lacks cohesiveness, and in many areas is far too “busy” and cluttered (especially the interior), while in other areas like the bulky “slab” sides, it’s too simple and lacking. It’s weird to me that a company who spends so much time developing cars and pouring over ever detail produced a car that is so directionless in the end.

The thing is when you design a car with so many details, if you design a very small part of the car in a way that people don't like, It will be a complete mistake. But this is a Pagani. These are like unaffordable jewelries that only few people have.

This is _exactly_ how I felt about the Mistral, the CC850, and the Utopia. Mistral was just Bugatti doing a new coach build on top of a Chiron base. It's like they were trying to check a box to keep the brand relevant to hold out until they can finally come out with the Chiron replacement, in however many years. I'm not impressed, but at least I have good hopes for Bugatti with Rimac at the helm and the upcoming Bolide. I'm still very excited by Bugatti. Utopia was just Pagani trying to prove to us that they can still do something unique, 11 years out from the last time they did anything new, and they couldn't get it done. It's a confused design, that's basically a Huayra combined with a Zonda, with a bunch of weird shapes added just to give an impression that the brand hasn't stagnated. But the brand definately stagnated. Horacio should retire. CC850 is flawless. It's exactly how you should do a tribute; taking 90% of the old design and just bring it into the new decade. And with regards to what's under the hood, oh my god... they leveraged all the things they learned since the CC8S and they used that to taylor the most modern analog experience that's ever been on 4 wheels. It's literally _the_ best tribute car that's ever been made by any brand.

All I can say is I like the Utopia but it is awkward at some angles. However, that is how I felt about the original Huayra. After seeing that crazy special editions of the Zonda like the Cinque and the 760s and even the Zonda R race car, the new Huayra felt plain and weird. Fast forward to today and it’s the same situation. The Huayra BC, RBC, and Huayra R are all so amazing that the new Utopia is just a bit weird. I’d say give it a couple years for some variations of it to come out and it’ll start to look awesome as well

Honestly especially with all the new hyper cars coming out koenigsegg has been killing compared to any other company. That have produced the most new vehicles and every single one be unique in there own way and absolutely keeping true to the name. Also being some of the greatest feats in the automotive space in design and performance.

The Jesko is an absolute beauty, the 850 feels like a major step back. It looked like an 8 with a body kit or something to me. It was the least impressive to me. I will admit that the transmission in it is an engineering masterpiece.

That was kinda the point. It was a modernized CC8. Better lines. Dames feel but much more powerful and with a never been done before transmission. It’s a homage car and tbh as far as homages go they knocked it out the park.

The Agera and CCX were my all time favorite cars and I don’t like how small the headlights on the Jesko are, but the CC850 is one of my favorite cars ever made. The Utopia, I think the front end is horrendous
