Pagani Zonda R - Nurburgring lap

Pagani - Pirelli Tyre - Assuring new technologies and materials are fit for production means also putting the vehicle's components under severe stresses, exceeding those normally encountered in every day road driving.
The Nürburgring Nordschleife is the most demanding track in the world, for man and machine, an ordeal that each Pagani has to pass, only one of many in the entire development phase.
The Zonda R serves as the ultimate test bench, a car able to reach acceleration figures and speeds that are not possible with a road car.
This is further underlined by a laptime of 6:47,5 min for the 20,832 km Nordschleife. Driver: Marc Basseng

This driver is a hero - it is Marc Basseng (it is written on his helmet) He is driving a £2,000,000 car at 9/10ths!!! He was adjusting his seatbelt and relaxing on the main straight at 180mph! Phenomenal. Paddle shift stystem is clueless - fixed on the steering column and not on the wheel as it should be.

God, that must have been absolutely exhiliarating. That machine is crazy quick. Damn, I'd give almost anything to be able to strap myself in the driver's seat of one of those any time I wanted. It's one of the most beautiful pieces of automobile craftsmanship I've ever seen, too. Also, everyone who's saying Marc could have done better because of this, that, and the other, just shut your mouth. You're not a professional supercar driver, you don't know the Nürburgring, and it's not Gran Turismo.

I gotta say, he's a good driver. Yes I know there are parts where he could have done better on, but I do think that as a driver, your life is more important. Live another day to drive another day. Also, you can totally tell that it takes mad skills to control a car like that on this track.

This is a true car, people talk about the ZR1 which is a nice nice fast car, maybe even a supercar in its own right esp on power and handling, but for the REAL balls out supercar you have to go to Pagani's stuff here. It has the looks, the exterior interior (not shown here since this is more race than finished.), the engine, the handling. They are all around well built machines. Owning one is special and that's what makes this car better than the ZR1.
