As a cello player I am baffled that this sounds as good as it does. I know how hard going even half as high as that can be

f you think this sounds good, (no diss to Alexandr) but Timothy Hopkins version of Paganini caprice 24 is INSANE. He plays it so well. Almost every note is correct, and he plays the tempo and rhythms perfect. It's absolutely the pinnacle of what a cellist would want to achieve .

Its impressive how pure your sound is despite you are playing all the time in high positions. Keep it up!
@awsickler2 жыл бұрын
It's actually quite significantly easier to get a clearer tone when playing in a high position. Obviously not to the point of playing off the fingerboard, but below that. Not taking anything away from this performance, it was very good, but the hard parts were the fast and precise shifting, not necessarily the tonality

I'm really sick of this luck doomer talk people always spout. Musicians are performers. If all you do is play your instrument you're not going to be noticed when a guy of equal skill also makes a fun show out of it. Anyone can become "successful and popular" online these days, but nobody really puts in the effort to be noticed, So explain to me, my guy, how luck is in the equation if you never even put your chips on the table? Look at ginger root, mononeon, that handsome devil, polyphia, hell even Steve Vai and frank zappa, These artists are all extremely capable, but they also have dynamics, a story to tell, or a unique style that's well received. Some of them coming into popularity out of nowhere simply because it's new, different, interesting. I understand there's no need for me to rant here but that phrase, I just can't stand it Things like "it is what it is" is it? It's the kind of thing someone says when they accept defeat, without ever trying. You just can't get noticed sitting in a chair in a silent room playing a well known song well. There are a lot of musicians and artists, but only a small fraction of them play well, even though almost all of them are certainly capable, And even fewer than them perform and entertain while playing. So how much of a gamble is it really to take a career as a musician seriously? Assuming you practice and play with absolute confidence while making a show of it, it becomes a lot less about luck and more about *quality* how well is your audio produced, how stimulating is the imagery, assuming it's a live performance, video, or other medium. Are we telling a story? Making a dramatic performance of a classical piece? How can we further invoke strong feelings beyond the sound of our instruments alone? I hope this inspires someone, they say "do what 99% of people aren't doing, and be right about it." Well 99% of people are "I could never do it" but they don't practice full time and never pursue it. That's really all it takes, anyone get get noticed online these days. That and take good care of yourself, your health, and your appearance ofcourse.
@kaiirich5999 Жыл бұрын
@@selfactualizer2099 I agree, but the only artists your brought up are ones who noticed an opening and took it by creating something new that people liked. For classical performers like Hillary Hahn, Yo-yo Ma, Ray Chen, and Martha Agerich, who don't do much other than perform classical music, they had skill, dedication, and a little bit of luck to make it where they are today. That being said, they were fully invested in making musical performace a career, but that's not possible for a classical performer without luck. If this guy isn't making an effort to be well known, he won't be.

This reminds me of bass. I was a bassist for 12 yrs. Many good players started playing transcriptions, they were never given the fame they deserved. The industry is corrupt and theres no way for example to prove with objective ratings you are better than yo yo ma or something, and they will always prigram yoyo and pay him 100 grand a service.... You sound great. You probably know what im saying already
