I'm glad I watched this. Her description of a mid-distance shot with 60% of her weight on her back leg is what I realized I have been doing for my distance drives. It didn't click until I saw the slow-mo of her doing it at 1:10!

I think her form and that of all the top pros is pretty text book. I do listen to what they say and how they think of their shots, but I also just watch in slo-mo multiple times and look at their fundamentals. I think you have to walk before you can run, so I start out in field practice focusing on shorter, stand-still shots where I just shift my weight from back to front but don't do an X-step. Once the shorter stroke is working then I make it bigger and bigger until I'm at full power. It helps me to remember that Eagle McMahon can barely due 10 pushups and yet has some of the biggest distance of all time. So it's about timing and technique, not about strength. I do think that there are ways to do it where you have less chance of an injury to shoulder, elbow, or knee, though. And that's pretty important, especially for older dudes like me.

When I'm closer to 200' I just throw it as far as I can...and it gets me to about 200' lol

Same thing as hitting in baseball/softball. Remember when coach was yelling at you to keep your weight back? Try hitting a ball by "swaying" your hips and hitting off your front foot. No power is transferred. Hope this comparison helps someone else out there understand what Paige is demonstrating. I know I need to revisit this in my form too.

Took me forever to find a video what would explain this! I had a bad knee injury last year because I wasn't transferring my weight into my throw correctly and this shows step by step what I been wondering how to do. Thanks for this, love the videos guys!

I just got I to disc golf a few months ago and absolutely love how technical this sport is to execute. It reminds me of my old college javelin days...super extreme techniques.

I've heard Dave Feldberg say 80% on your back leg in the swing for a full golf drive. Or maybe it was Tiger? Either way Paige gave some great advice! TY : ) All us Ams are doing something wrong. lol .

Tried this the other day after listening to the DGAM Episode, definitely need to practice this as it felt unorthodox to me. If I gained 40 ft thou that would be amazing since I been stuck at 350

Paige throws like a maniac, but this advice makes absolutely no sense. It's basically impossible to do a correct X-step without having 100% of your body weight on your back foot, since your plant foot is off the ground the entire time you're moving it forward prior to bracing. If someone knows how you can have your weight on your plant foot without it touching the ground, I'm all ears.
@phalle327 жыл бұрын
I think what this means is that your body weight is moving forward, so if you just tap the ground with your back foot in the x-step versus really pushing of it is what makes the difference.
@EDECO796 жыл бұрын
She means loading up the weight versus just walking into the x step

Okay, I may not be able to throw as far as she does, but 1:15 is a horrible example of follow through. She never pivots on her front heel so he knee must be under a tremendous amount of strain.
@lollerskatez15 жыл бұрын
It's just a small touchy upshot from a standstill. That shot was almost only arm movement and a bit shoulder so the strain on her knee should be little to none.
