Busy level crossing on the main road through Paignton town centre. The pathways are wide for the pedestrians and there are two alarms.
The barriers had to be stopped in the first video due to pedestrian misuse. An old couple starting crossing way too late and got blocked off by the left-side barriers lowering.

@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel I just read on Devon Live (having searched the pedestrianisation up) that the pedestrianisation scheme fell through and the crossing is due to re-open to traffic by this weekend due to uproar and protests. Misuse rates probably would have been up in the brief spell of pedestrianisation though

Thank you 😊 Yeah, there was loads of people around as it was summer so most closures there was someone trying to run across at the last minute. And same, especially one of the alarms at this crossing is quite nice.

Thanks 😊 Yeah it does. Its on the high street so the crossing has a lot of footfall. Even more so now that road traffic are banned from using the crossing.

The pictures on Streetview are from May '22 and still show cars. Was that fairly recently done?

@EliTransportation Yes, the crossing has been pedestrianised since around October/November 2022 so the street-view imagery won't show the change. I'm hoping that alarm stays for a little while longer lol

Not anymore. It seems like there was enough uproar and opposition to merit reversing this pedestrianisation. I've read that the road will re-open to road traffic by next weekend.
