In my personal experience anxiety is an exact equal tms symptom. Mine would switch from severe pain to severe anxiety in a moments notice. I had 6 months straight of daily anxiety attacks (brutal) with zero pain, then those left and pain came back 10 fold, literally the next day! Lol. When I started to heal, anxiety went through the roof. Then depression hit like a freight train, also tms. The brain does that puts focus on the body is tms.

There is anxiety and then there is through-the-roof chronic anxiety. On the latter it is certainly a learned behavior, a kind of habit, and it certainly creates physical symptoms. Plus its likely in most cases rooted in trauma. So in that sense I think anxiety and TMS are two sides of the same thing essentially. Its the FEAR of pains and symptoms that drives TMS

I’ve been meaning to comment on this post. I really think A & D is part of tms. I suffered with it on and off in my teens and throughout my life from childhood traumas. The last time I had it, I realized and learned what it was and vowed never to let myself to go through it again. And it didn’t until my brain found another way to get my attention focusing on pain all over my body when I didn’t sustain any injuries. That definitely got my attention and because I couldn’t hardly walk, stand or sit, the A & D came back with a vengeance because I couldn’t enjoy my life!! When I learned about tms, the pain disappeared. When the pain disappeared, the A & D disappeared.

Im glad you touched on this. We can get better even Anxiety and depression . I’ve been there thank God I’m through the depression. I still get anxiety from time to time but I know those feelings will pass. I’ve been to psychologists and psychiatrist and they have their place but most of them have no idea about TMS . I wish I would of had a psychiatrist that knew about mind body illness and pain . I would have probably not had to get on antidepressants and anxiety medicine. I was on all that shit for awhile . I had to ween myself off all of it and that is no picnicky lol. Some doctors will keep you on it because they don’t have any other treatment.I’m sorry but if you get the right kind of TMS approach therapy you can really start to understand what is wrong with you and have hope. I can definitely attest to the fact that anxiety and anxiety attacks can be brought on by TMS symptoms. I have never felt that I have had depression on anxiety to any great degree but it definitely did affect me to the point of hyper ventilating a few months ago.

Thanks 4 video, Agree, back pain, entire body/muscle soreness without doing any physical thing to ring that soreness on has a lot to do with being stuck, in a funk, depressed state, anxiety. Many times the soreness & pain lessen or stop once we learn to lift our mood, other times it's calming our anxiety. Sometimes instead of meditation we should do anything to loft out current mood & that suddenly brings calmness as well. Lessen hopelessness, knowing this isn't physical & will eventually lessen symptoms & pass helps.

When my bladder problem kicked off two years ago I immediately went into chronic anxiety as had such fear about what on earth is wrong is me. I freaked out big time. Then started clenching my stomach and glutes with fear and tension and now have chronic pain through the constant tension and because of all that I got depressed. Also had and having stressful and hopeless life so for me it all was and still is connected. This is my experience. As I live alone and can't work I get scared and so am stuck in this loop of pain anxiety and depression. The depression was not so bad but has now become severe just like the pain and anxiety. Hopelessness here on my own and all 3 things really entrenched now. I'm sure most of it is due to living alone and stuck in house a lot. Can't drive far because my butt pain is so bad. So this leave me isolated which fuels the whole lot.

All pain is perceived danger or threat so to me anxiety is TMS or TMS is anxiety. Anxiety is fear and chronic pain creates fear for most people and therefore anxiety. Anxiety definitely creates pain or creates the conditions for pain to flourish. I personal feel there are overlaps between all these labels but fear/danger is the hallmark.

I was shocked to hear you say anxiety is not a TMS equivalent, when in the Mindbody Prescription it says it is a symptom imperative explicitly. and in my experience it is. *Rolls eyes, now I have to work on understanding the connection between anxiety and TMS again. For me personally when I journal speak about a life event that causes me anxiety, then create a plan to deal with that life event, the anxiety goes away. When I get TMS symptoms sometimes they appear as anxiety or physical pain. By journaling and believing these are just imperatives of an emotional phenomena both the pain and anxiety go away after a resolution. You are the first person in the TMS world to refute this while I was researching and you have a great reputation to boot. Sucks to have a reduction in belief.
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 2 жыл бұрын
Can you point me to where I said it is not an equivalent? I have listened to the video over again and in the part around 1:20 into the video I mention that people say it's an equivalent. Unless I'm missing something, I didn't say it's NOT an equivalent. I said people say it is and that I wanted to talk about it. I'm not dismissing the equivalence. It's ALL related to mindbody symptoms. It's all related to perceived dangers. If what you have done with a TMS approach has provided you a benefit, don't let my video affect that positive result which you have personally experienced. Trust your results. And again, if you can show me where I refute this, I'd love to know.

In my opinion, depression is deep sadness + No Hope. Get some hope and you are left with sadness. Feel the sadness and that will eventually release. If depressed about symptoms, focus on eliminating the symptoms with an approach like I teach. Once the symptoms are gone, the depression will go too. Often times when I get pain after walks/ physical activity I feel sad - how would I deal with it ?
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 2 жыл бұрын
First, understand that the pain shows up because your brain perceives walking to be dangerous, so the pain shows up to make sure you don't do that again. Changing your brains perception of the walk from dangerous to safe is key. The process here can help with that task: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2TLaYeVh7BmlZo As for the sadness, allow yourself to feel it, but then move on with your day and reassure yourself that nothing bad happened on the walk. @PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 2 жыл бұрын
No, I do not. Nor will I. It is not a practice I used to end my pain. It's another tool in the TMS tool box, but not one I feel qualified to teach because I have not used it personally. Some find it helpful. Others don't. My understanding is that the goal is to observe your symptoms or pain from a neutral standpoint. My approach is to be indifferent when you notice your symptoms or pain. They are fairly close, but somatic tracking places intentional focus on the pain where I suggest we give the pain and symptoms as little attention as possible.
