I’ve noticed with AJ is that he gets overconfident and lets his ego cloud his judgement at times. One example is where he outboxed Andy Ruiz in the rematch and then thought he could outbox a fighter of Usyk’s calibre. Another example is where he dispatched Nganou and Wallin with ease and thought the same thing would happen with Dubois, so he didn’t take note of Dubois’s potential.

Got a feeling we are almost back to the 60’s and 70’s with the Saudi influence. Everyone at heavyweight fighting each other. So a loss isn’t always the end of a career. I’d still watch Fury v AJ even if Fury lost again to Usyk. Point I’m making is there doesn’t always have to be a title on the line for it to be a great fight. I’m gutted. Not because I’m a massive fan of AJ, but because of how he spearheads British Boxing. With him at the top, British Boxing was booming. Everyone was eating off the back of those big nights. For the last few years British Boxing has been on the decline, and now with no route back to the top for AJ, all I can see is that it becomes a feeder program for Saudi Arabia and Riyadh Season. Dubois smashed him to bits tonight, but he’ll never be able to replicate the growth of the sport and positive effect that AJ had on it. For now, AJ’s name is in the dirt when it comes to Boxing debates, but in decades from now we’ll look back at the effect he had on the sport and show him the respect he deserves.

I can’t believe what I’ve just seen tonight - at the end I was thinking AJ was going in for the kill but got ironed out. FairPlay Dubois was sensational and AJ went out on his sword. Great show lads 🙌

Went out by his sword? He never turned up AJ the Backfoot boxer.
