What many failed to notice was that on the entire fight Volkanovski circled into Ilia strong hand, which is Ilia's right hand. Boxing 101 teach us that the fighter always try to circle away from the opponents strong hand. This is why when trapped he tried again to escape in the wrong direction and got torqued.

I think like you, they simply don't know him, before the 298, they laughed and said that finishing in 1.2 rounds was delirious that Volk would destroy him, he finished this event and I already heard many people speak wonders about his boxing, including fighters ufc assets (suga, usman who premiered with him...etc), I think the same thing happens now with the ground, they believe that he is a good boxer but many wonder why volk barely made a half attempt to go to the ground in the whole the fight because they say that if they had had the opportunity to change something... and I ask them, if someone with the experience of Volk and his coaches does not go to the ground, it will be for a reason, right? Or are they stupid and have achieved 5 title defenses by chance? They preferred Illia standing than on the ground. Of the first 8 finishes in his career, 7 were by submission. There are videos that are easy to find on YT where, at just 15 years old and being children, the brothers can be seen humiliating much older rivals. that with different types of submissions, they simply enhanced what they already learned in Georgia from the age of 4 when they arrived in Spain with BJJ to the point of being fighters, not boxers, by default. Boxing only started to take him seriously about 5 years ago before he entered the UFC, and his level now is not surprising because if you really wanted to know, there are many interviews with his coaches. info etc on the network in which you would realize that his best virtue is not even the ground or boxing but his high learning capacity, his study of the MMA and his dedication. There are interviews with his coaches that explain all this. That's why In 5 years illia has been able to achieve that level of boxing. But as I said, I think they are starting to get to know them now and it is normal that they don't know much about them, the brother will debut in the UFC in a few months and has similar talent. They just lack information in my opinion.

UFC 300 main event is fine. Dana pink just hyped it like it was gonna be something crazy but Periera vs Hill, Holloway vs Gaethje, Jiri vs Rakic, Oliveria vs Tsarukyan on one card is still quality. Not to mention other fights like Figuredo vs Gardbrant and Sterling vs Kattar. Nearly every fight on the undercard could headline a fight night. Only people pissed off it seems are the more casual fans who only tune into the mega fights

And there probably saving Izzy vs Du plessis for the UFC Africa event they've got lined up. But the UFC 299&300 card are both stacked with quality fights from top to Bottom.

Just because Topuria knocked Volk out with Boxing in MMA does NOT mean that Topuria has better skill in boxing. There is a vast array of data on how to beat Volk (who was also coming off a knockout loss in his last fight) than there is to beat Ilia. 5 fights time, if ilia is still champion, the chance of him getting starched by the contender will be just as high. Its called the fighter lifecycles, of which if Volk is at the decline of. If he proves to be on the level of GSP or Jones he will evolve and make a second run. The Style theory to MMA is founded by incorrectly observed correlations that is unchecked and isn't commented on by the actual practitioners and trainers. Its Pseudologic. The reason why you need to be rounded is that when you lose you can come back and win fights in different fashions, through a different route of MMA striking or grappling. Johnson, Jones and Georges had these 3 in abundance and were all able to evolve their game. Hence why they have all achieved more than anyone else and are resoundingly above everyone else as the 3 best mma fighters of all time.

To be fair to Whittaker hes always been a technician rather than a KO artist so i wasn't surprised he went for points rather than a finish. Plus Costa's really powerful so Rob would be stupid to engage him head on. Don't know how Whittaker would do against Strickland, but I'm so happy hes back. Vintage performance! Plus Costa came to fight too, so credit to him, he hasnt lost a step!

Illa is definitely a new bread, younger, stronger, faster etc but personally I think the guy just needs to focus on being himself. He is no doubt a great fighter and all the footage I have watched of him when he is not trying to be billy big balls calling out Conor and being Mr super confident I'm gonna fuck you up in the 1st round he comes across as a good guy. I think he should focus more on doing genuine him and let his fighting do the rest. He is a very good fighter no doubt and I'm excited to watch him moving forward.

Exactly Geoff Neal is a good fighter. He might not be elite but hes been fighting the best fighters for years. He was beaten by a younger fresher fighter last night but it's not like he got smashed to pieces in there

True Geordie - always delivering intelligent analysis and your always 100% dead on. But I do disagree with Topria mic skill. He has great personality - hot stunning gf - the compelling story is that he predicted, manifested this knockout and he said to Joe - look at me now, just trust yourself. I think short and sweet was a good thing. He also carries himself with class, style and oozes that stoic persona. Dresses well - I think you’d be surprised lad. Volk won round 1 and was doing good round 2, but apparently it only takes one with Topuria. Like to see a rematch and see if Volk can apply a gameplan that can get Topurias shoulders to fill up with some blood early and take a lil sting off the punches. Volk gave Max two chances it’s only fair he gets one rematch, not like there’s that many people above Max in the division anyway.

Personally thinking the 300 Card is decent, Oliveira, Prochazka, Sterling and Holloway on a main card is exciting stuff, but for 300, the main event really should've been bigger

All the fights on the 300 card are good to great and if it wasn’t under the UFC ‘300’ banner I would be well happy as a UFC fan. The thing that is missing is that ‘IT’ fight that makes you go wow, that’s different or massive. No McGregor or anything that makes u sit up and take notice. I honestly thought in the last few weeks with Dana saying no McGregor was a bluff and we would get Mac against Chandler. A superb wow fight woulda been Leon Edwards v McGregor (I know Belal deserves it but I’m just thinking outside the box) especially with Connor now set at 170. Another out of the box fight could have features Alex Perriera v Tom Aspinall with Alex trying to be the first to get triple titles at 300 (Triple, get it?). What we have is on any other card a great fight with Alex vs Hill but compare this to 200 and 100. Dana said in the post press conference how much of a stud Leon Edwards is. He said Leon was given 3 opponents to fight and he said yes to all 3. It was the opponents who didn’t want the smoke. Be interesting to know who those 3 were. Keep up the great work TG 👍🥊🥋♿️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
