Fantastic! I bought a cheap RC Car (Wltoys 12428) and plan on installing iNav later this fall. I have an extra Matek, a GPS, and bought a reversible ESC for the brushed motor.

I think you can reprogram the throttle range on the ESC using only the transmitter. At least on most of the older ESCs the sequence was like so: 1. Radio ON, ESC OFF 2. Full throttle on the radio 3. Power on the ESC 4. Wait for the confirmation beep from the ESC 5. Go to zero throttle position on the radio (in the case of this boat go to -100%) 6. Wait for the confirmation beep from the ESC again 7. Power off the ESC 8. Radio throttle all the way down 9. Power on the ESC 10. The motor should now respond to throttle input from the radio 10.1. Make sure each time you power on the ESC the throttle position on the radio is -100%, otherwise it could enter program mode

Another great informative video. Now to dive off into tracked vehicles that require differential thrust.......

Thanks for the reply on the 5v bus arrangement......I did eventually track it down with your help...seems it went through rather quickly and I missed it. Any pointers on mixing the throttle with the switch setting to get the 0-100% in forward and reverse. (around 8.45) I did look for a link to the file you mentioned but doen't appear as far as I can see.

Hi Lee, I have been looking forward to see you handle this topic. I have also been looking forward to find some guidance on handling a boat with two waterjet drives, as this model is quite popular. Especially among baitboats. The ability to use differential steering is very nice, and the steering of the boat is in general very elegant and safe. In the same way as for your setup, a jet drive has no reverse thrust via the thrust stick. Counter rotating the impeller doesn't work. Instead it needs a switch to engage the reversing bucket, and steering in reverse is now much more efficient than with a rudder. The same goes for full size boat. The saying is, that you can make a boat dance ballet with jet drives :-) Is there any chance, that you could look at this twin motor boat setup for INAV in a future video? I haven't been able to find it anywhere on YT.
@Painless3603 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend not going with INAV yet. The code is just too basic. More varied setups are supported by ArduRover so that is what I'm planning on looking at next with this model here..

In an aquatic setup the FC would no longer be a Flight Controller, but a Float Controller wouldnt it? 3:) Which would mean Flight Time is now Float Time... :v Very interesting project, thanks again Painless! ;)

Thank you but I've watched the video many times. But I can't find the remote control settings you set. Would you be so kind as to send them to me? When I disarm the gas starts at idle... The channel on inav goes from 1463 to 1500 when it disarms. I don't understand where the error is
@Painless3603 ай бұрын
I don't have them any more. This is an older video. The ESC will normally see 1500 as zero throttle with movement above and below being seen as one direction or another (forward or reverse). Best of luck!

Mine won't stop zigzagging on RTH! Thanks for this video but i just can't seem to get my inav rover to just come home straight. Anything you think i could try in the config?

At 7:28 you mention a modification to the 5v bus....could you point me to a video or instructions on how this modification is done etc. Intend to use your layout in a scale Riveria boat I built with a 25cc engine (also my build) Camera will also focus on the on-board working tacho and fuel guages so no requirement for telemetry there. Also you mention a link for radio setup, really like that idea but could not find any such link. Cheers Jeff

Image of the mod in this video and I also did it on the Omnibus Arduplane build from last year. Just connect the 5v pins from the ESC and the servo outputs together so the power for the servo comes from the ESC not the BEC on the FC. Best of luck

Please help: I want to put the fight controller in an RC tug with a single motor T style bow thruster, 2 motors (fixed) 2 rudders (linked or independent). I would like GPS capabilities like POS HOLD, RTH TRACEROUTE, WAYPOINT.
@Painless3603 жыл бұрын
I'd check out the ArduRover/Boat Wiki ardupilot.org/rover/docs/boat-configuration.html as it is a lot more advanced than INAV for ground based models. Best of luck!

HI I set everything up like you did (it works back and forth) but when I disarm the engine it starts to run at idle speed. Where am I wrong?
@Painless3603 ай бұрын
Not sure, sounds like the ESC is getting a signal that isn't 'middle channel/no throttle' position. I'd check how you have the disarming switch setup.. Best of luck

Can that FC handle the amount of amps the motor needs? I would like to do the same thing on my feilun ft011 but mine has a 65A each or something. Or do u connect the ESC to the FC ?
@Painless3604 жыл бұрын
If you need to pull a lot of current then I'd connect the esc directly to the battery and solder flying leads to the FC to power it and monitor the pack voltage only.
