I agree. Putting the color in first, then adding details with pen, is my much preferred method. If I draw first, and ink first, then I feel like a child coloring in a coloring book, and it becomes boring. Today is Thursday as I'm watching this. Day before yesterday it was over 80 degrees here in Minnesota. Today we are getting snow. Thanks for the nice video, Diane.

I saw a golden dragonfly yesterday in northeast USA. He was chasing knats.... A good afternoon. Thanks for the relaxing painting project.

Great video for this time of year. In New York the leaves are all orange, yellow, red and brown. It was chilly this morning at 38F so I decided to work on this watercolor. So much fun!

I have not reached the stage of 2 pages of art at once. I like others, take pieces. This helps me keep my sketching practice up. Thx to you I’m getting a little better. Practice does help. Some pages were horrific. I use them to see my errors. A walk away and come back Ahh there it is. Thank you Diane.

Oh my gosh! Someone else like me! Little ADHD, a little lazy (maybe more). I read, watch TV, play with my phone - all at the same time!. I also knit. I can't just sit and watch TV. I might knit, or color in coloring books for adults. (not THAT kind of adult!) I have a few bags of frozen blackberries from my wild bushes. I guess I will thaw them and add to a blueberry bread thing. Our blackberry bushes have kind of darkish, dirty green leaves.

I have a sketchbook with paper like that. It sucks in the paint and leaves a dark mark that doesn't want to lift. It is strange, but I am using it and adapting to its quirks. You've done a lovely job.

I listen to TV as if it were a radio and my husband thinks that’s so strange that I’m playing a word game for my brain health and I still know what the program is about…well I do keep an eye on it in the good parts 😄

Enjoy watching you paint & have watched many times. Can you please remind me where I can buy the paints you use. Some of them are canacridem gold etc…. I’m sure I have the spelling wrong for that, but those were such vibrant colors. I love them just not sure where to buy them. Thank you, Robin

Hi Robin, thanks for asking about that. I can give you a set of links which will take you to ALL the suppliers of ALL the colors I use available from Amazon.com. I’ll put the list here and also on a community post on KZbin and I’ll post it to Facebook too. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions please ask via email to studio@dianeantone.com

Can't do what you do....I'd scream. I paint in segments, a few minutes here and there. I can mow a field, or run the dog a couple miles, or housework with comfort. But glad for you! Watch while eating.

My problem with Meeden paper is that it seems to be the Chinese brand Baohong. And this brand uses gelatine as glue/binder. Which makes me sad on two levels. 1: the animals 2: this paper is fantastic. But Ijustcan't use it for ethical reasons 😢🙈. Please correct me, if I'm wrong.
@DianeAntoneStudio
@DianeAntoneStudio 2 ай бұрын
I can see that this might be a problem for some people. Meeden have told me that their paper is the same as Baohong, and Baohong say their paper is internally sized (in the pulp) with gelatine. The thing with gelatine is that it is a by-product of the animal industry. It’s extracted from the bones which are left over once the more valuable parts of the animal have been harvested. I’m a vegetarian myself and am against animals being eaten in general. But I’m also a pragmatist, and believe that if animals are being killed anyway, the most use possible should be made of all the parts. So I agree that rather than discarding the bones unused, they are made into fertilisers, glues, sizing for paper, gelatine for food jellies, carbon for chemical uses and dyes, and many other things. This is the way the world works. If you choose to make a stand against gelatine sizing of paper, then you will be denied the vast majority of watercolor papers. I believe Bockingford, Fabriano and Heritage use synthetic sizing. There might be others. There are disadvantages to using synthetic sizing which include spotting of the paper and loss of permanence of the pigments. That’s the sum total of my knowledge at this point! Hope that helps, Diane x
