As a longtime Smiths fan, this song is criminally underrated. It has everything that made them so amazing. Marr's perfectly selected tone, a rare solo with every note carefully manicured for maximum emotional effect, Morrissey's biting social criticism blended into a deeply personal story that's not on the nose but very relatable. And then there's Andy's perfectly weaved baseline threading throughout. It really is an unsung masterpiece.

It's more indicative of moz solo. Interesting off kilter topic, over polished vocals and very average guitar.

Fantastic breakdown! The guitar solo ends on the 12th fret of the B string but it's played at the same time as the next verse starts. There is also a small guitar fill that goes over the closing of the song.

Being totally honest I’ve never followed Morrissey’s solo stuff that closely, the only records I bought were Viva Hate and Suedehead. But I’m thinking ahead for new material and I’ll take this into account, I’ll have to work it out myself first so bear with me! Is there anyway in particular you would like? 🤓🎸🙏

I’ll chime in here with Alsatian Cousin. Fantastic post-Smiths statement. Vini Reilly I believe with fascinating guitar. Always puzzled if he was using plectrum in this song vs his usual fingerstyle. Just my 2 cents. Cheers

The guitar solo is so underwhelming. Good thing they broke up. This sort of average music is better being released by morrissey under his own name. Yes we appreciate things more as time passes simply because we keep coming back to it. If you just heard many of the strangeways songs once, if it were by any artist but the smiths, most of them wouldn't have much calling you back.
