Paint RUSTY Weapons the EASY way

Rusty weapons are secretly (or not, depending on your viewpoint) easy to do, it requires only 4 colours in a wash like consistency.
Mournfang brown, Skrag Brown, Trollslayer Orange and Fire dragon Bright.

For chipping on worn edges afterwards (Which I predictably neglected to mention in the audio) you can use either metallic colours such as silver or gunmetal, or dark to light greys if you're going NMM.

I like to do my nurgle rust much darker. Dark reds/browns and black, to sorta simulate old rust. New rust is typically lighter oranges and yellows. I like the idea of nurgles rot being swampy and anaerobic so I just looked at the old swords the pull out of bogs in Scandinavia for examples. Oh then I go heavy on any copper or copper alloy with 3-4 greens to get that verdigris/patina effect.

One cool way to add a bit of interest and narrative to models with a heavy rust effect is to leave the rust off of high-use edges and recent chips - like the two striking surfaces of the hammer or the edge of a blade.

Yeah I did go back and add some chipping later on, as the whole thing is nmm I wanted to make sure it fitted properly before I did it. For something rusty but not nurgle yeah absolutely you could leave it off certain sections.

I love new, small creators. They consistently engage with their viewers haha. Lovely model, very nice choice of colours for nurgle. That said, seeing your amazing blue covered like that hurt a bit. Maybe a bit less rust? 😢

I probably enjoy rusting and weathering a little too much at times, it maybe something to try on similarly coloured chaos warriors where I don't have that nurgley temptation to over weather everything!
