tbf it's not a particularly a tutorial for a software, skills are transferable, if you can paint in photoshop you can paint anywhere else too

i wonder if anyone could help me with this software right now... I'm mainly using photoshop but i decided to try clip studio bc of free software trial. so i did. but then i noticed there's something weird with pen pressure. it feels like the pen pressure isn't as fluid as in photoshop so i wonder if there's something i could do to fix it or it's just a csp issue

Thanks for more tutorials in Clip, really appreciate it! I tried CSP a couple weeks ago and immediately downloaded it. Photoshop has been my main tool and I understand that it's industry standard, but something about Clip feels so much better for drawing to me whereas I always felt a bit of a disconnect in PS. Someone had an explanation for why they feel different, I don't quite remember but somehow it feels truer to traditional sketching. Plus it has yet to crash on me so that's nice, it's more lightweight and doesn't bog down. This sounds like an ad but honestly I'm just impressed and so happy to have an alternative to Photoshop that works better for me!

I feel the same with Krita! I've been using Photoshop for years too, and it's great, but it's nice that we have more tools than ever before at our disposal, and that some of the free/cheaper options out there like Krita and CSP are arguably BETTER at digital art than Photoshop is. And like you said, PS is a memory hog and doesn't run that well on some budget systems. I used to struggle with it on my cheap laptop for years until finally getting a more powerful PC. But some of these other programs run great on anything haha.

I hope the sponsorship money was good on this, this was some premium tutorial material that could be on Domestika, or skillshare or Patreon ETC. Solid stuff better than a lot of other people who are sponsored to use a piece of software and they just do some trash "tutorial" to get the content out there.

So glad you made this video. I bought Clip Studio paint cause the art community has been talking about it and how it's so much like actual painting, but just the idea of transferring my photoshop hot keys and learning a new UI has me so intimidated that I haven't done it yet. I'll have to now!

I moved from PS to clip, about two month ago, no regrets, you able to customize it just like PS, but I bought it for like 25$ and that damn CC doesnt eats my RAM any more.

how about your pen pressure? does it work fine to you compared with pen pressure in ps? I've been having some problem with that
@Markerton3 жыл бұрын
@@19demian everything were great, my issue with clip is - pen delay, cant get used to it.
@mangoalias6083 жыл бұрын
@@Markerton i had this problem too, it mostly just steers me away from using fancy brushes that lag too much, but i find that messing with the gap settings under stroke keeps the stuttering down. brush size matters a lot too, certain brushes will slow down a lot when they're big bc of the number of calculations going up really fast, like blending brushes or watercolor brushes. the pen delay kinda helps me, really, because it makes me focus on the fundamentals rather than hoping the really complicated wild brushes will fix everything. so while i hope this helped (1 year into the future) i also suggest trying to make art just using the round brush. its really freeing
@Markerton3 жыл бұрын
@@mangoalias608 Thank you for the advice) I was messing with the settings of the brush and found out, that the problem was in Adjustment by speed, it adds the delay for the tip.

Thanks Dave for doing this video. I work in both Clip and Rebelle 3 so this was as great tutorial and so timely. Thanks for the tutorial, this is fantastic. Have you ported the brushes to clip studio paint yet? The PSP brushes are the best. But the brushes you can get from the asset store that is called DaveGreco Brushes are not the best. I try them out, but I don't like them, there is something wrong with it. I think I have to stick to standard pencils for now. Love your learning style. I learned so much from that. Thank you so much.
@19demian3 жыл бұрын
yeah i think i have issues with third party brushes too in csp. I've been trying to find a standard round brush like in photoshop so i found one. but it feels different in terms of pen pressure and color picking when i blend
@onesculpt3 жыл бұрын
@@19demian Yes, you are right, this is because you can blend with transparency in CSP and not in Photoshop. I hope Dave will make his brushes soon, otherwise I will try the standard pencils. It is a bit of practice with CPS but with time I will master it too.

I would love your brushes ported to CSP. I tried to port them but since I don't own PS, I do now know how to make them feel "right", besides blending in CSP in different (actually easier) so is a challenge to say the least. I would like them to feel like a CSP brush tbh.

Hmm, tried following the tutorial as a guideline to imrove my own skin colouring, but instead the airbrush-soft brush that was used in the video, only colours the paiting grey instead of giving it a red tone. : / And likewise later in the video, like 6:16, where instead of modifying the tone, it creates grey splotches on the orange layer instead : / Even if i try with a fully saturaded deep red on white...still grey....Any suggestions whayt might cause this?

what i didn't like about clip studio the most is to create just a layer it take you long time and a lot of offers here and there just for a layer opening a menu and click there and there and there .... etc in photoshop there is one icon do that in one click they really should think about improving this , same as many other necessary tools like in ps
@jasonstock81064 жыл бұрын
The new layer button is literally right there at the top of the layer panel for christ's sake. Perhaps you're not really cut out to be a digital artist?
@rickeybernard81564 жыл бұрын
@@jasonstock8106 I feel like people just want something to complain about. There's enough drawing programs out there for everyone.
@GuuMonster4 жыл бұрын
The new layer button is literally on the UI where the layers are displayed so idk what you're talking about, though, I do think it's quite decent on the tools that CSP has to offer, it's not a photo editing tool so it quite differs on some tools that Ps has, I do agree that some tools could be implemented such as liquify but it's not the end of the world tbh. In other hand Ps could also learn something from CSP, like reference layers, vector path with brushes, a better workspace for animation, fill feather and gap closing, etc. up to what I know about Ps it lacks these features but I understand it's probably not it's focus.
@DoctorMGL4 жыл бұрын
@@jasonstock8106 so you really have to add this part "Perhaps you're not really cut out to be a digital artist?" just to offend others ? or to push others down ! and who are you to comment personal judgments about others ? oh wait a ( 0 subscriber no one Jason stock in the bottom ) is judging others . you have to check your corrupted manners before replying to others if someone didn't see something you could just nicely say its right there and that's it , but with your low ethics you have to add something offensive in the end always , your parents didn't teach you manners apparently you really need some psychologist for your social illness
