Honestly the green painters tape giving wasabi calligraphy brushstrokes was really working for me. Pair that with some neutrals/muted furniture and I think it’d be cool. The final result was nice, though! Well done.

Would it not have been darker if they overlapped 🤔
@laurenbrewer13134 ай бұрын
@lailaunknown3989 in actual plaid, it's more like the white lines would be darker bc they'd have the blue peeking through, and where the white lines overlap its just white, giving it a lighter look

Here's a like and comment for you for sharing the final results. I hate when videos don't. It's a waste.
@gillianboate4 ай бұрын
You could have made a little moveable tape-stencil using thick pieces of silicone tape. You could cut off the backing plastic where needed (of the side to be pressed onto the wall), or just peel the whole bit off and then offset it back onto the tape so that you have only a thin edge that will actually try to stick against the wall (think like if you outlined the small squares in small post-it notes with the sticky sides against the edges, which would work as is for a flat wall; so you'll have the un-glued parts to hold on to, if needed, to pull it off easier, and place it perfectly on the next square/s quickly and easily); basically you'd uncover only about 2or3mm of the sticky part of the (wider) tape. I'd expect to get it done on that wall, you would need more rigidity, and ease of pressing the whole stencil so the tape gets right in there all round; so that it can be used as a one-handed tool (so your other hand can quickly paint the four bits). For something *that* size, I'd use a few lollipop sticks going right along the edges you're going to paint make sure they're all pressing on the same level, it's easy to cut them so youre essentially making a straight # around each little square. It's a touch easier to accomplish the well joined edges (that will cause even pressure on the tape), if you sand the slightly rounded edges (not the ends, and you only need to do one side of each stick) of the stick where it will be framing the squares. In case that doesn't make sense about the lollipop-stick frame: 1-Sand (fine grit, a regular cheap nail file might be plenty for this if you've no other sandpaper to hand) the rounded sides so it's like a plank of wood with proper, squared corners. 2- Lay out a tape version of the needed frame, on some paper (on a flat table) as an *exact* guide of the wall sized squares, that you'll use to build on top of. 3. Put down four full sticks vertically, lining them along all four squares' vertical sides. 4. Cut more sticks to the size of the horozontal spaces you need to frame. Pro-tips: a chisel will give you a great punch-cut though the stick, an old nail clippers will do a good job of a quick tidying the edges if you use a saw/knife to cut them (you'd have to sand them to flat corners of course), but also, a regular pair of snips should give you at least one good corner (you need two on one side), just make sure you cut feom the same side, and then sand them down to the exact fit afterward. Always overshoot your measurement as lollipop sticks can sort of crush/splinter at the edges when being cut, and you'll need them to fit *exactly* into the gaps for the horizontal lines to get great sharp lines and corners. 5. Make two sets of gap parts in total (16) 6. Lay the 8 small pieces out in their right positions on the guide which will look like a completed frame (but it wont evenly press just yet). 7. Glue full sticks over the broken lines so the horizontal ones are rigid. 8. Glue the second set of 8 small pieces down, filling in the vertical gaps so the whole frame will be two (flat) sticks tall, and each line has one rigid full stick for support (all with squared edges on the inside of each square in the stencil youre making. 9. Affix your silicone tape to your sticks, (if it is the type to not stick well to wood, you can have encased each "plank" in electrical tape, and when the tape is fully stuck to that, but only slightly stuck to the wall, you won't have any tape stay on the wall instead of the stencil) If all that is done, you've a rigid stencil that you can press the right down into the uneven wallpaper, and paint right up against the tape inside the squares with a small brush, or a good sponge cut to size; you should be able to lime it up, press it down, do four dots, then whip it off immediately and move onto the next one, and then all the ones after that. I realise that it might seem silly to some to take some time to make the tool, but it means no standing or stretching at a wall putting down more tape all around each tiny square, until you're ready to paint!

@juliasugarbaker90324 ай бұрын
People like to stay in their Internet bubble echo chambers and any opinions dissimilar to their own immediately make them furious. It’s really not their fault though, it’s the way social media works because it means more clicks, I blame Mark Zuckerberg. Also, shorts only show you the result for one second to get you to repeatedly watch the video, it’s a way of artificially boosting their view count. Everything is for clicks
