How about a pileated woodpecker? (North American)bird. I like the way you simplify the birds’ coloration and wing, tail, shapes. BTW, have you found any bad lots of the paper that you use? Another watercolor tutorial teacher was complaining about that paper.
@tomshepherdartist3 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, great choice, I will pop it on the list! I haven't had any bad experiences with the paper, in fact so far, I absolutely love it! I've probably hd about 5 gummed blocks though, so not that much in grand scheme...what sort of issues were they finding with them?
@wendychampness19013 жыл бұрын
@@tomshepherdartist The teacher had just opened a new block and, while painting, was surprised at how quickly water soaked in, said it was like trying painting on paper toweling.

I love your cardinal. I was trying to mix these dark greens using WN Transparent Yellow, Quinn, magenta and pthalo blue (GS). And just could not get the green any darker than a mid green. Is it just not possible with the phthalo blue? I was trying to use the three colors in my botanical painting. And decided to watch this to see how you got that marvelous, deep green. I plan to watch many more now! Thank you.

@@tomshepherdartist I haven't use their paper yet but plan to get some around Black Friday. I'm wondering which version to get as a newbie amateur. Maybe I'll get both. They both must be better than cellulose papers anyways.
@tomshepherdartist3 жыл бұрын
@@MinnaPerala84 The academy would be great for you, it's a very forgiving paper from what I remember, as is the pro range. And certainly a step up from a lot of the entry level wood pulp ones, of which some are still very good. Like the pro It was easy to lift out and can handle a bit of overworking well..which is great for any experience level. If you can justify a bit of both...always nice to compare!:)...let me know how you get on. T
