I appreciate your art and your teaching/tutorials! They are so full of helpful basics on value, color, contrast, mixing and how to apply the oil paints without being timid about it. It's all so interwoven one never notices how much you are teaching. "Blotchy blotchy...even for my own..." I love it! It gives me patience and courage to keep on with my own struggles! Learning at the start, a person feel so inept ...you allow for the process to keep building in a painting until the layers provide the painting to 'emerge', from a jumble of colors to the beautiful final illusion.

I am so enjoying the lessons you are posting. What size are these smaller paintings? I think I've said this before, but I just love your work and like how you share your process. So helpful to see how things are adjusted when we're not happy with them. Thank you!

@@compuservicecartago9208 I was about to agree with you but I see what the guy is saying.. They are actually different if you notice in the beginning and throughout the colors that he mentions are not the same as he puts on the canvas, all his colors look very white/pale/opaque on the pallete then when painting the canvas looks reddish/brown/green etc.. I believe it's because he has a cool light(likely 5000k-7000k) directly on his pallete and a warm light(likely under 4000k) directly on his canvas.. Shows the power of what lighting can do to paint colors!

@@Handles-R-Lame I think it's because the pallet has a neutral grey color either under the pallet or painted on it somehow. Then when he takes the same color from the pallet and puts it directly on the white of the canvas it looks different. If you notice later on in the painting the colours look the same.
