Best Horror/Sci-Fi movie ever. I also liked the prequel, which I felt was well done.

MacReady was a burned out ex-army helicopter pilot (hence the isolationism and heavy drinking). His job on the base was being the main helicopter pilot, with palmer as backup in training (also assistant mechanic).

I think the ice and snow looks pretty good on this miniature. Good job!

I think the feathered white paint did the trick to show frost build in cold climate. Because yes extended time in cold will do that.

i LOVE these models. Dragons and zombies are greatand all, but my favorites are the regular dudes. i get the most use out of those on the table

You can add more fluffy snow on top of the stuff you already have; paint on a layer of white glue and just sift some of the Woodland Scenics snow onto it. Wait for it to dry, then repeat until you get the layer thickness you want; this will make the snow look a lot lighter and fluffier than the snow/glue/water mix. I've also seen people use hair spray to affix snow for a lighter, fluffier look; its normally used for dioramas and they literally spray the surface with hairspray first, but I imagine you could brush on the hairspray for a similar effect.

I know exactly what you mean about this figure. There are quit a few others in the Mythos expansion that i like as well. Did not think I would like these until I had them in hand but now they are probably my favourite set from the series 3 kick starter.

Nice idea for adding the red to the nose. Maybe a slight hint of blue for the lips as well?

This would work well as a starter miniature for doing Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness! BTW, I know it didn't follow the short story very well, but the 1950's The Thing has always been my favorite version in movie format.

I love the way you paint. Could you dilute a shade into a glaze or would it be better to get Vallejo inks? I asume inks and glazes are the same thing. Greetings from spain
@ThePaintingClinic7 жыл бұрын
Glazes are very thin inks. Likely best to get ink. More you can do with them than shades.

I can't help but wonder what an "Antarctic Explorer" would need a rifle for? Viscous attack penguins?

For the secret underground Nazi base obviously Duuuhh.

The obvious answer (anywhere but the Antarctic) would be to hunt, but in this case I assume its to eat a bullet before hypothermia sets in and he/she freezes to death. And wow, that answer was a lot darker than I first thought it was going to be.
