Since you seem to like things being correct, and who doesn't, I'd like to point out that "blood channel/groove" is a bit of a misnomer. The idea that it was there to help the sword to not stuck in a body or to let the blood flow is a myth, likely made up in the victorian era like many other myths about armor and medieval weapons. The groove is generally called a fuller and its purpose was simply to reduce the weight of the sword, very much like how an i-beam works. It's a way of removing weight while minimizing the structural compromise.

You make it look so simple! Beautiful

I want to paint this model up as a hill giant with a bone and stone sword. Maybe a hill giant chief. It would also look cool as a post apocalyptic wasteland giant, or super mutant. 🍺💨 Fantastic result! Really love the cape. 👍

Excellent painting, given it's a Bones figure and not really meant for display just play. Great snow effects too!

Would have loved to see how you'd do an ice elemental/ice giant/ice paintjob.

Yes awesome set up. But for me I have to make my own. I have over 400 bottles of paint and still growling I just bought the whole line of Mr paints So currently I'm just using small planks of wood and brackets attached to the wall I'm a full-time model builder so unfortunately I think I have more bottles of paint than I do model kits.. It's crazy.. Awesome videos you do a awesome job

How are you priming the bones material? I've read conflicting information online. Some say don't prime, just use a un-thinned first layer. Some say use paint on primer. Some say spray-on primer is fine as long as the model is washed first, as it should be.
@ThePaintingClinic7 жыл бұрын
CLean it with rubbing alcohol first and then you can primer it.

The other thing you can try, if you have access to an airbrush, is airbrush primer; stuff like Vallejo Polyurethane Surface Primers and Badger Stynylrez all seem to get good results. For myself, I know that my Vallejo Primer goes on perfectly and dries without any complications (i.e. the tackiness most people experience when using rattle can primers).

Do you have any experience with using a wet palette? What are your views on them?
@ThePaintingClinic7 жыл бұрын
I don't use them because I want more control over the the paint.

D&D collectors series has some better giants.
@Heath866 жыл бұрын
The d&d series has all their giants tall and skinny. Virtually the exact same as stone giants but with wigs. I love the fire giants and frost giants from the reaper series. They are big and meaty making them way more intimidating in my opinion.

I think you did a great job with what you had to work with, but this is one of the few Bones giants I just can't stand; I hate that they made the two Frost Giants available look like some weird, neandrethal-ish things more reminiscent to me of ogres than anything else. When they were doing the Kickstarter for Bones series 3 they showed some new sculpts for the Frost Giants and they look more traditional, i.e. the horned, Viking style helmets, long beards, weapons *not* made of ice and snow; I'm waiting until those are officially released before I buy any Frost Giants to paint.

Addendum: I just checked the Reaper site recently (decided to back the Kickstarter for the next bones series) and they have one of the new Frost Giant sculpts in the Preview Gallery: www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/previews/latest/77543 And also: www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/previews/latest/77593 New Fire Giant as well.
