I’ve never done this before..... knocks it out of park.... I’ve been painting miniatures for nearly 20 years for Tabletop gaming, that’s some quality work sir ! If that’s your first attempt.. sheesh... dang impressive.... took me years to get there ! .. ...goes to look for avante driver on auction site.......

Thanks! Those miniatures for tabletop gaming are insane and I've seen a lot of really impressive work. I think it'll be too small for me to work on.

Your a MASTER, just one thing that yellow face shield sticks out like a sore thumb, if it go's on a kit build you should have used a piece of scrap body matt. and smoked it black!!!!!!! But the best I've ever seen that's for sure Brother!!!! Ralphie

This video was ideal watching for me. Ive built a Tamiya rally beetle, which I'm going to customize a bit to look like a class 11 Baja racer, and one of the things I'm gonna have to do is remove all the windows, which in turn means I'll have to have a detailed cockpit. The helmets will need visors and a clean air hose built into the chin guard, which is very similar to the drinking hose you've fitted. So al in all, this is the best detail video I've seen. That's top quality work you've done there. 👍

Well done. Little tip, I always use a wide marker, not the point but the side, to crate a grey or black rim on the edge of the vizor. Usually, I also add a bamd at the top of the visor, but as this is a classic figure, I can understamd it’s not used here.
@MechanicAfterHours2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip, Bart Brunink! Never thought of the marker technique and will try it next time.

Excellent job really showing what is possible with a driver figure! Makes me laugh at the blank flesh colored face I got on my XB Hornet. Maybe you've inspired me to give it more personality. This video also reminds me how important it is to have a good set of tools to do this kind of thing. It would be cool to see some of your scale modeling work at some point.
@MechanicAfterHours3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! And thank you for watching. Definitely, there are certain tools needed to really help with these things, just like with any other craft or hobby. I do have a few static models and one day I’ll try to post a video of that as well.
@butchmeister802 жыл бұрын
It’s all down to the tools for sure problem is amount you need to do a decent job
@MechanicAfterHours2 жыл бұрын
Tools are definitely important, but sometimes you also need a little skill and artistry if I were to be honest. Although I’ve been painting and drawing since I was a child, I’ve seen other scale/static modelers and I have no ability to replicate what they do no matter the tools I have. Hand dexterity and precision especially. Applies with almost every craft.

Hello, thank you for such a detailed video, it is very helpful. Could you tell me what kind of putty or filler you're using around the 0:54 time? Thank you.
@MechanicAfterHours2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, claytonfarlow76! They putty is Vallejo Plastic Putty. It dries in about 15 minutes but doesn't really fully cure in a couple of days or so, so it's still workable. But once it sets it's quite solid. There are other ones such as Tamiya Putty and Milliput that are somewhat similar.

@MechanicAfterHours3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! For glue, I used Tamiya Cement and probably a little bit of CA glue. And then I used Vallejo Plastic Putty to hide the seam, let it dry and sanded down. Good luck!
