I tried that foam filler - blimey its not as easy as it looks on here. By the time i had finish the hallway looked like the set of Ice Station zebra. any tips on making the stuff more controllable than using the applicator that comes with the can?

Practise it's like any materials that you will use it takes time to understand their behavior.

Buy a foam gun. Much more control and no waste. It'll pay for itself in no time.

@@PaintingandDecorating I did two bedrooms for a women her skirting boards were basically hanging off so I fixed them using expanding foam. It’s brilliant stuff I don’t think people realise how good it is. It sticks like glue. Anyways I went above and beyond for her. Priced up her staircase and living room and she got another painter in because he was cheaper 😂.

Have you tried using toupret fillers and easyfill as we only seem to see you using polyfilla?
@PaintingandDecorating4 жыл бұрын
We only use polyfilla because it's perfect for what we do.. also you get to know the materials you work with and when something works perfectly you keep it.. have tried others.

@@PaintingandDecorating toupret tx110 is a much better product having used both, can be drilled once filled too which is really good for the mess left when people have curtain poles down etc. Worth a try if you haven't used it is similar price to the polyfilla powder too

what's the virtue of using filler rather than caulk for the small gaps and cracks?
@PaintingandDecorating4 жыл бұрын
It can dry faster and takes paint better if any movement use foam first.. thanks

Hi, thanks for you videos, they have really helped me out, I like how calm you are and do a thorough job. Can you do one on filling the same type of holes, on a stipple textured ceiling finish, and show how you do the artex finish on top? That would be wicked.

Thanks, I do have a job coming up where I have to repair an artexed ceiling, water damage from a shower... hopefully thst will show all..

@markrowland53934 жыл бұрын
I think he uses continental filling knives. You can get a set of the Harris type from Screwfix for £2.99. Not sure if that's exactly what he uses.

Hi Mate great watching your vids haven’t tried expanding foam yet but certainly will. I usually use scrim tape and filler but as you say it leaves it proud but it does hide the cracks . A couple of questions do you get cracks reoccurring ? And can you re use the expanding foam as I find it usually set in the tube and that’s it

Absolutely amazing attention to detail, I’m currently painting my bathroom and has a dado rail, so this is perfect form as its slightly come away from the wall and taken paint off the wall. Its also slightly broken a little from the bottom, as previously 2 layers if tiles were there, any tips would be handy to help re-attach it back to the wall. Should I use glue? I don’t have a nail gun. Thanks, satisfying video to watch doesn’t need a voice over 😊👍🏻♥️

You would really benefit from swaping to a foam gun and cartridges. I use a ilbruck aa270 gun and mostly the ilbruck or soudal cartridges with it, both good foam with the right properties for what we use it for. With the gun you can control the amount of foam put out you have infinite control of the amount of foam so you can avoid ever overshooting or foam dripping off and save a lot of time and foam. Turn off the foam valve when done and just wipe the gun nozzle with acetone, no set foam in the tube etc. The gun i use was £70 but is made in Holland and proper quality and has held up faultlessly to really regular use. One of those tools were if it were to go walkabout on site I would be gutted and have to replace with the same again! The cheap guns are not comparable and fall apart.

I cannot believe how they use so much foam and not use a proper gun. There's too much of a difference using the gun to not have one.
@mariad41834 жыл бұрын
thank you for mentioning there's an option because I'm new at this
@SteS4 жыл бұрын
@@mariad4183 if you get a gun, once your done with it you can wipe down the tip of the nozzle with nail varnish remover (Acetone). This prevents the tip getting clogged if you don't use it for long periods. Just keep the can attached until you're ready for the next can. Here's mine I bought. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ABP546Y

@@mariad4183 you save money eventually by not throwing away a clogged up can of foam. Before I got the gun I probably threw every can out after each use when the can was practically full because it was clogged up. Not great for the environment or the pocket. ;)
