I really appreciate that you changed the properties of the paint and the layers to keep the techniques very similar to your usual work flow. This video isn't so much for me because I'm down to try all the tools - oils, enamels, air brush, whatever, but I see a lot of comments where people get upset and give up on a video because they see an air brush or oil paints and they either think it's "cheating" or maybe just can't invest the money or time in a new tool or set of oil paints.

Richard Grey also uses it in many of his videos. It has been used on historical models too, for a long long time. It is a very nice technique 🖖🏻

@@Nissenov I'm well aware of OIL dot filtering. But don't understand the benefits of acrylics v. Oils. Seems like a similar result but some extra steps and no way to fix errors or results you don't like

Great Video! how would you do battle damage or chipping on something like a CSM where all of the armor panel edges are metallic trim? Something I've always wondered was how to apply this weathering/battle damage style to like the new khorne berserkers or CSM models.

You could follow these exact steps and colours for both those schemes. Just replace the light chipping colour for your highlight colour.

I love this piece! Id be interested to know though, do you have a preference between using oils or acrylics for the spotty dotty weathing effect? Hi JP. We actually still use rattle cans for priming. But the Vallejo stuff is good as long as you keep it well mixed.

no, it will work more like Lahmian medium. But you could certainly try it out, it may well work just fine for this.

I just use champagne style corks. You can buy bags of them. I glue a coin to the base to help them stand up.
