Thanks, Dawn. Actually, the screw with the stick was my wife's idea. She's the smart one around here.

Impressive. Your colour choices are phenomenal.

Thank you, Mark. While doing this painting I realized the color palette in this one is actually quite limited. And it quite often is in my work. Seems like I feel comfortable with a limited palette. Good to hear you like it!

I finally had a few minutes to watch this video from my watch later list and am so glad I did! I like how you darkened the right of the sky a bit. It really does draw the eye to the cast light and action of the waves. I will apply your wisdom into painting with my acrylics. I especially like that "painting stick" to keep your surface touch free: BRILLIANT idea Sir! You probably have one of these too, but I just saw on another video, how a gentleman uses a stick with a nail that has a long string attached to it. It is mounted above his paintings for when he applies the sunbeams. It helps him maintain proper and uniform angles when casting sunbeam light. I will be using both you gentleman's "stick" ideas. Thank YOU! Have a wonderful relaxing day and God Bless you and yours.

Glad you enjoyed the video, Tom. I don't use the stick with the nail and the string myself, but I know the old 17th century Dutch masters used it to get their linear perspective right. Using it to get uniform angles for your sunbeams is actually a great idea. Thanks!
@tom-lq7dw2 ай бұрын
@@PaintingSkies1 I didn't know it had been used by the Dutch Masters for Linear perspective and didn't even consider it at all until YOU just mentioned it! haha As you can tell, I have much to learn and have already learned so much from you. Thank you so much for sharing yourself and talent so unselfishly. God Bless

Great job. I like how you used your reference photos, but changed from them quite a bit. Puffy whites are my favorites. And the sun hitting the waves is the magic touch.

The very large rounded brush that you pop the canvas with in order to blur the lines, what is that brush called, please?
@PaintingSkies16 күн бұрын
I buy my stipple brush in a local hardware store. Here in Holland its normal use is for painting doors and window frames. Here's a link to buy your stippler online: www.dickblick.com/products/blick-scholastic-white-bristle-stencil-brush/?fromSearch=%2Fsearch%2F%3Fsearchword%3Dstippling%20brush. Though I never tried it myself, I hear that shaving brushes work quite well too.
