Great stuff! i’ve found that the painting is almost less important than just getting out into nature. I really enjoyed this vid, keep it up!

Really enjoyed the video. However, seeing the sunset got me homesick for Hawaii. I lived on the west side of the Big Island for seven years. I really enjoy plein air. Have several setups depending on where, how much time, and if I'm with a group of people. What I use A LOT for plein air is my Art Toolkit palette. It's one of my most cherished possessions. I keep it in a small camera bag along with some Koi waterbrushes (they have a stopper so I can leave them full), a pencil and Micron pen. I also have a small plastic container of white gouache. There's even a small Hanemule accordion sketchbook. I live in Florida so have a summer setup that I use a lot because of heat. Have cargo shorts that hols a lot of stuff including a waterbrush and a small pouch with a cutup handkerchief. Bring water in a crossbody pouch. Have a spiral sketchbook attached to a shoulder strap. In a pouch attached to my belt, I carry either my Art Toolkit palette or fountain pens with multi color water soluble ink. Have a wide brimmed hat I keep in my car and wear cooling neck pieces. Sometimes I take a stool that has it's own shoulder strap. Very important in Florida to find a shade spot to sketch. Thank you for an enjoyable video.

Oh wow! That sounds like two incredible places to live and paint from life in. I’ll have to lookup the art tookit palette! I don’t have a specific setup yet, but I’ve seen there are some great options out there! Sadly I’m limited to the spring summer and fall unless I travel, but it’s always enjoyable to get out there and use what I have regardless. I love those Hahnemuhle accordion sketchbooks! They’re so cool and looking back at them is always an experience. Sounds like you have a really nice setup that’s easy and fun to use to get out there and create. :)

Like you I find getting out with my art stuff to be incredibly soothing, regardless of the outcome. Painting from life isn’t easy! I often head to Denver’s botanic gardens. Sometimes I like the end result, more often it’s not great. What I do like is how closely I pay attention, observe, and learn. An iPhone photo doesn’t do that for me!

Oh wow! The botanical gardens in Denver sound like an incredible spot for painting! 🤩 I love that so much. Agreed-sometimes it’s just so nice to pay more close attention to the things in life and challenge yourself to really see them from an artistic perspective.
