What a nice change of subject video. It's because of you that I started watching mini painters on the tubes and have tried my hand at painting them. Keep up the great videos.

I love Gaunt's Ghosts - one of my favourite series of novels. For a non-mini painter those look great Jon - I'd certainly be happy to play with them. Like you I don't paint many miniatures, but I agree that is a good thing to do now and then, it's certainly improved my painting.

Miniature painting is an awesome topic too! Nice addition to this channel. I hope this figure will be combined with the vehicle painting - which is your main strength, will be awesome!

An interesting video, especially the insights into your thought processes as you developed the painting. You had clearly visualised the fantasy scenario you wanted to create and used that to inform the choices you made: excellent work.

Thank you! I'd done a few with some vehicle builds, and I really saw how mini painting helps grow skills. I figured this was a great set to start stretching out more! Thanks for watching and commenting!

That initial flesh tone was really looking great on camera. I think you were on the right track, you could probably speed up the process a little by allowing the highlights to be a little stark, then glaze over the transition edges with a midtone to soften them. Skin tones are tricky due to our brains paying extra attention when something looks unnatural. Stick with it and practice!

Thanks! I am definitely going to be painting more minis, on and off camera. I'm actually working on the glazing idea you mentioned, and that is proving to be helpful. Thanks for the great advice, and for watching and commenting!

Cool, something new to try !! Good job Jon. What brushes did you use?
@JonBius2 жыл бұрын
You know, I don't recall. I tend to swap brands quite a bit to evaluate the brushes I have. Most likely candidates would be Artis Opus, Rosemary & Co, Davinci, and Winsor and Newton. And quite often I'll use high-end synthetics and very low-end cheapies throughout also, depending on what I'm doing. And sometimes I just grab what is on the table at the time! :D
