I am very new to figure painting, and have so many questions. My primary interest in figures is 75 mm ancient Greeks and Persians. I realize that the layers of paint are very thin, but I do have to ask, if you skipped the base layer of dark flesh that went on first, over the black primer, would it really be noticeable? There are so many subsequent layers going over top, that I have to wonder what would the difference be if you skipped that first layer of flesh - meant to create a warm look. Do the shadow layers not obliterate the base layer of flesh?

so you thin with the elf flesh do-over on the base coat? What is the ratio? What's the ratio before that, on the "lower" paints? Sorry, I'm terrible at all this and trying to learn basics.

3:07 "less brush strokes" --> "fewer brush strokes". If you can count what you are talking about, "fewer" is the correct word to use. Save "less" for mass or quantity nouns. For example: "Using fewer brush strokes will put less paint on your miniature." A common grammar mistake. Hopefully seeing this tip will steer you to making fewer (not less) grammar mistakes in the future. Keep up the great videos!
