Nice job and I learned a lot. Suggestion though...I would have loved if you brought some of the figures in for a close up so that we could have seen some of the detail. Just a thought...thanks again for a good tutorial!!

I'm sold on figures for the layout. Enamels worked well painting on sprues. I needed your sense of humor to get a small batch done. I like the idea of mounting them on a board. Thanks for the tips and inspiration.

Years ago an Italian model firm produced high quality figures. I bought a few. In one set was an elderly man sitting and you could position his arms any way you like. I made a small park placed a few benches he was sitting on one reading a paperI went a bit further an made a cap for his bald head and gave him a pair of glasses. Also a cigar in the corner of his mouth. The ash from the cigar came from my wood stove. I lit the cigar with a very tiny grain of wheat bulb the wire went through his head down his back into the tree behind him. The battery box used a Double A battery that could be turned on near the controls. I only turned it on when I had visitors.

Old friends, sit on a park bench like bookends, quietly waiting...

Thanks Peter. I need to paint a bunch of figures to populate my Ma & Pa Doodlebug & Coach car. This video is making me want to get to it! Rick

Very good insight into mass production. Figures have always been a bit daunting to me, I finding it hard to get into "the zone" of this part of modelling. ...Time to get organized....

Thank you so much I just order a pack of 100 mini Figures and wasn't sure which brand of paint to go with I didn't like that "Testors" paint sets don't have a large variety of colors so it's unavoidable having to mix colors to make the tone I'm looking for.

So... I'll give it a miss. I was thinking of painting my Flamme Rouge board game figures but can't afford to buy paints that will go off after using just a small amount. Thought of practicing on some general figures before tackling the board game men and bicycles but would have been unlikely to do anymore model painting any time soon

Hmmmm, this would be daunting in N scale. Thanks for the video

Is it possible to see close ups on some of them. Thanks for the info. I will try it out.

Some of them will appear in close-up in a few weeks when I populate an area of my railroad.

Thank for the video,very informative. Do you ever go as far as painting the figures with some type of wash to bring out details of the figures? Like the folds an shadows in the clothing?
@mpeterll5 жыл бұрын
I don't bother to do that now. My goal is to build a whole model railroad; not just paint a few people. There is a product designed for dipping figures, but I haven't tried it yet. In my days of painting D&D miniatures, I would shade and highlight every fold in the clothing, as well as all the facial features - eyes, eyebrows, lips, facial hair, etc. I even won best of show in the only painting contest I ever entered, but that was some 25 years ago and my eyesight was better then.

What brush(es) do you use? Do you use a magnification headset or similar, to paint? What glue or wax do you use to secure fighures to layout? Thanks!

I have a 3" diameter 3x magnifier on a stand which I use for this kind of work. I also bought a 5x, but it's too small to be useful so it doesn't get used much.

Thank-you for your feedback. May I ask what you thought was so poor about it? Also, please feel free to create a better one.
