I was just about to google some urban camo tutorials for my Exploit Zero project -- I'm in need of some heavy duty H-SEC corporate security -- and this feels as if you were reading my mind! One question though, and I'm agonizing about this: how do you paint close to the chest area without hitting the weapon, or vice versa? Or do you just live with the fact that area will be harder to reach properly and will contain some tiny mistakes and spots of paint in unwanted areas?
@theandf3 жыл бұрын
The reason I agonize about this: I dislike painting in sub assemblies, I only get inspired enough to commit to painting a mini if I see it completely built. Painting in sub assemblies tends to make me abandon the project :(
@SonicSledgehammerStudio3 жыл бұрын
Just paint the camo, make a mess, then black the weapon in again later. You don't have to worry about hitting it during the camo stage; it takes just a coat of black and twenty seconds with a brush later on to tidy up. Try not to overthink the process! ;D

I thought you were a Kiwi! Didn't realise you were in the UK... Anyway nice one for this. I've been doing a camo pattern on my I.G. but this is a better way of doing it. Going to stick with my colours but definitely will base coat, shade and drybrush this way, and try some Tetris shapes. Btw once the camo pattern is done try putting tiny white dots very sparingly - I usually put three together somewhere & that's it for one limb. I sometimes apply them with the head of a toothpick. It looks much better.
@SonicSledgehammerStudio3 жыл бұрын
I'm a Kiwi, lived in the UK... and now in Germany, so it gets even more confusing trying to explain to people where I'm 'from' most times. 😂 Folks in England assumed I was an Australian, here in Bavaria everyone thinks I'm American, and when I went home to New Zealand for a while after living in the UK, they all assumed I was a 'bloody pom.' I can't win!
@philsayer24473 жыл бұрын
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Hahahaha yeah you sure can't mate! It's good to be well-travelled though. Most people in the city I grew up wanted to live as close to their parents as they could for the rest of their lives. No wonder I wanted to get out asap. And yeah, I know why most people here (UK) thought you were an Aussie - but spend a bit of time around them and you can tell the Kiwi accent apart no problem. If I'm not sure I just ask "Do you wear thongs or jandles brah?". Btw I heard this joke once and never forgot it, it's pretty good: What do you call a good Aussie? ...A Kiwi.

Not yet! I haven't quiiite got the knack on it yet. There's a question of how distinct to make the colours so they're visible on a miniature while still looking like proper marpat, which - aside from a few dark brown flecks - is fairly samey.
@stephenrider61073 жыл бұрын
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio it's a paradox isn't it? Camoflague is supposed to make things less distinct, but mini painting is all about contrast. I look forward to seeing more camo patterns that you work out and eventually the whole gang next to each other.

I play Raven Guard in 40K and I have several squads of scouts with sniper rifles. I just hate the “bad space marine” feel of the paint scheme from GW. It doesn’t make reasonable sense.
