The first new vehicle I ever purchased was a 93 Chevy S10 in Dove Grey aka Nardo Grey. Back then it was a very unique and very rare color and got compliments everywhere I went. People couldnt believe it was factory paint, and asked where I got the paintwork done. The Rustoleum smoke grey looks just as good. Thanks for this video, I now plan to paint my 07 Grand Marquis the same way with all of the chrome and trim in gloss black.

at 50/50 it is thin, but dries really quick for the next coat. 5 coats (a good thing) later and a beautiful result appears. Don't use a brush, use high density foam rollers, or a sprayer.

What primer you would use on bright silver metallic I put light gray primer and painted it with the paint code but I should of painted the whole vehicle because where I painted at looks darker than what the factory color looks after I painted it and put clearcoat. I used 2k primer and activator but the activator ran out so I used regular light gray primer over my truck. Maybe I didn't put enough coats of clearcoat on. I didn't paint the top part of my truck. I should of just painted the whole vehicle with the paint so so all the truck looks the same color it would of turned out better. Think am gonna just go and paint the top and other doors on the right side to match up.

@JamesSmith-lt5zz5 жыл бұрын
@@GTsPerformance you know you can get a decent gun for 30-40 dollars. Look into auarita guns. They make copies of the high dollar SATA and devilbiss, iwata guns for cheap. Everything is cnc machined today. A 600 dollar gun has $5 worth of metal just like the cheao guns. There are small differences in them. But all the ones I've used have sprayed identical. To their name brand counterpart. I've even put the clone parts inside the name brand and vice versa. The difference comes in the quality of the stainless and guides. But keep it clean. I've had a couple copies from back in 2009. Sprayed a couple hundred times and still fire. Some people say they don't atomize as well with use. But I haven't noticed it. I've had one gun I had to replace the trigger seal in. But even on my bink gun at work seals need to change. If your on a budget look at auarita, neiko, weta, on eBay look for user pntgreen. He has a couple guns for $20ish that are clones of high dollar guns. Gotta love cnc machining. Big companies need to bring their prices down. I'd rather buy a $20-100 clone and get a rebuild kit or new tip every few hundred sprays. Then pay $500 for what is essential a copy because only the first gun a engineer designed is original. All cnc machined after that. I see a lot of unbranded Chinese guns have the same guides and air horns as these expensive guns. Hell the new SATA 5000 clone is $100-120. I've used that harbor freight cheap gun numerous times. You can do good jobs with them. A good painter can paint with a garden hose you have it or you don't. But what you spend on those guns. You can get a gun or a set that will bring your work to the next level trust me. Even the tcp global set for $60-80 is much better then that gun. The husky from hone Depot has much better atomization then that gun. For the price of 2-4 of those guns you could have a ok set of Chinese guns usually a 1.4 and the 1.0 touch up gun. I did about 30 shoots with thr husky and it still works as the day I took it out the box. I still use it with cheap paint now. It's really is a good budget on par with the good unbranded Chinese guns. I think you'd like the neiko and the 878, and k400s of your really on a super tight budget. The sprayit 352 is $13 shipped. Its based of the itwata a few companies now make it. I guess patenr ran out. Decent gun. And the hopper swivels so you can shoot angles. Make sure you tighten that connection up with a wrench not hand tigjt. $3 more and you'll have a much better gun
@JamesSmith-lt5zz5 жыл бұрын
Not eBay pntgreen is on Amazon. Good stuff. Pretty much all guns are made in the same couple plants in China. Different companies put their logos on them. Also a siphon fed hvlp isn't bad either. Or conventional as a primer gun but you can get in ant tip size. I had. A 4001 that kicked ass and wasn't expensive.

Every cup I mixed was 12oz of paint, plus 6oz of acetone. And, you don't necessarily have to add clear coat. It has a good gloss straight from the can. If it's not a budget thing and you decide you want to add clear, then sure, your paint will definitely last even longer (as long as you take care of it of course)!
