I agree with Lisa Beishline, when covering dark walls always go with Kilz primer for coat 1 and the replacement color for coat 2. Keeps the dark from bleeding through the new color and offers some moisture protection to the walls.

I love the colors you used. Kilz Primer is an excellent product and once it's on the wall it would hide the brown and any marks then you would have only one or maybe two coats of paint. Your house is really looking nice and the doggies get their own private back yard!!!

I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE prepping, but I really enjoy painting and until I physically cannot AND win a big lotto, I'll be doing all my painting. I love white colors because I have a lot of very colorful art pieces that won't clash against a pigmented paint. And, as much as I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE the prep, it makes a world of difference - taping, removing outlet covers, taking off doors - it truly does pay off in the end. As others have said, Kilz is your best friend when painting.

Love it! Painting is SO much work! I painted our whole basement a couple years ago when we were finishing it. It's about 1600 sqft, but I had to do everything (doors, trim, walls, and cellings) starting with primer from mudded drywall. Thankfully we decided to invest in a paint sprayer. It made things so much easier and look professional. I also pre-painted all the trim before install. My crowning achievement was painting all 3 of my girls' new bedrooms mostly by hand. I only sprayed the closets and cellings white. It was quite the labor of love, but totally worth it.

Great job. Painting gives such a great reward! I always do my own painting. Even in my late 50's. Using a primer is important. My advice is to finish up with the spots, bathroom, etc because once you stop its hard to get back in the mood and it becomes an irritant when you notice it. Your pride of ownership shows.... Big kudos for all you've accomplished and I love your frugalness

During the shit down we painted over half our house. I chose to do it our self. We had the time and I didn't even want to consider paying someone that much money. I think we need to take on that kind of a project it makes you feel good. It's not always fun and it's a lot of work but you feel like you accomplished something when you're done. I can't wait to see it once you're all moved in and decorated! The painting made such a big difference. I think you did the best you could with the baby poop colored bathroom- white was probably the best choice next to that tile, and if you want to paint it a different color it will be much easier to picture on the blank wall. Looking forward to the next video!

I wanted to let you know it works fantastic if you'd like to change but yet not change the tiles in your bathroom or other places. Sherwin-Williams extreme Bond $66 a gallon in Minnesota price. You can paint this over any tiles let it dry and then you can treat your tiles with any kind of color paint texture whatever you want to do it is fantastic.

We’re saving $6,500 by painting our home ourselves. The only problem is that my husband is a perfectionist and insist on painting it all himself. It’s so funny our entire home was a mint green like color much like the one you choose, It drove me nuts! I’m more of a neutral greige kind of gal. So far he only needs to paint the master suite, guest bedroom and upstairs hall. We used Premium one coat paint. But still did a few coats because he’s a perfectionist. I got tiered just watching him and you! Definitely a labor of love!!

You may want to look into a type of stain covering paint by the name of KILZ. I had a few stains on one of my ceiling's a few years ago. I used the KILZ , one coat then the ceiling paint one coat. No more stain. I think you may not only be wasting you money but also your time by applying coat after coat of paint, not to mention the painters tape which in itself is quite expensive.

I know you are tired of painting but there is a “paint” resurfacing product for tiles (wall and floor) and tubs that you might want to consider since you are bothered by the brown tile.

As others have said Primer is your best friend! It saves time, money & energy. Do not believe any paint no matter what brand, no matter what store that says “paint plus primer” just don’t even consider that primer. We built a house in 2018/2019 and I painted the entire house myself! Two story, 2300 sq ft. Miles of trim, doors galore, walls... hubby did the ceilings, bless him. And my best advice after that experience was primer is not optional (especially for new construction) and do not buy the cheapest paint the store has. The price difference is deceptive. You will spend more with multiple coats and anguish with cheaper paint & not using a good primer.

I have had excellent results with Marque paint from Home Depot. It promises one coat coverage and has proven itself at my house, including a painting over a red (almost maroon) kitchen and two very colorful bathrooms (one blue/purple, the other orange/yellow). Getting ready to tackle two smaller bedrooms... yes, one is purple and one is blue..to match their shared bathroom, I guess. I went with a very neutral color...antique ivory or something like that.

Spend the money on the one coat guaranteed paint! Guaranteed or your money back. Painted my 1100 sq ft house in a week...one coat and some touch ups. Great job for real!

Painting is literally back breaking work. I’ve painted my house before but, never my rental properties. I can’t..lol..too much work for me. Kudos to you though. ☺️

The house looks better & better with each video. Did you use a stain blocking primer? In my youth I painted my house a couple of times. In 2018 at age 65 I hired someone to do it Perhaps a dark chocolate brown for the bathroom or an accent wall in a bold color.

That's crazy! Painting is my least favorite thing to do. You really are a rockstar and should be proud of yourself!

Bathroom looks great. Did you happen to use primer? Primer usually cuts down on the need of multiple coats of paint.

You can do it! it sucks but you can! (though i would have put it off forever if i had to move all my stuff around to do so, I absolutely admit.)

We hired painters for the all the reasons you said at the end. It’s a lot of work. You miss spots or quit because painting sucks. It was worth the money in the end because my time was better spent doing other projects.

I have found Kilz Primer to save an amazing amount of work when dealing with covering darker paint and walls with stains. 😁

Personally, I would hire professionals. My husband can paint walls (even though he is a teacher); however, there was quite a difference between his painting and professional painting of walls. So even though it is more expensive to hire a professional, the result is worth it.
