I agree with Lisa Beishline, when covering dark walls always go with Kilz primer for coat 1 and the replacement color for coat 2. Keeps the dark from bleeding through the new color and offers some moisture protection to the walls.
@lisabeishline5784 жыл бұрын
I love the colors you used. Kilz Primer is an excellent product and once it's on the wall it would hide the brown and any marks then you would have only one or maybe two coats of paint. Your house is really looking nice and the doggies get their own private back yard!!!

I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE prepping, but I really enjoy painting and until I physically cannot AND win a big lotto, I'll be doing all my painting. I love white colors because I have a lot of very colorful art pieces that won't clash against a pigmented paint. And, as much as I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE the prep, it makes a world of difference - taping, removing outlet covers, taking off doors - it truly does pay off in the end. As others have said, Kilz is your best friend when painting.

Love it! Painting is SO much work! I painted our whole basement a couple years ago when we were finishing it. It's about 1600 sqft, but I had to do everything (doors, trim, walls, and cellings) starting with primer from mudded drywall. Thankfully we decided to invest in a paint sprayer. It made things so much easier and look professional. I also pre-painted all the trim before install. My crowning achievement was painting all 3 of my girls' new bedrooms mostly by hand. I only sprayed the closets and cellings white. It was quite the labor of love, but totally worth it.

Great job. Painting gives such a great reward! I always do my own painting. Even in my late 50's. Using a primer is important. My advice is to finish up with the spots, bathroom, etc because once you stop its hard to get back in the mood and it becomes an irritant when you notice it. Your pride of ownership shows.... Big kudos for all you've accomplished and I love your frugalness

We’re saving $6,500 by painting our home ourselves. The only problem is that my husband is a perfectionist and insist on painting it all himself. It’s so funny our entire home was a mint green like color much like the one you choose, It drove me nuts! I’m more of a neutral greige kind of gal. So far he only needs to paint the master suite, guest bedroom and upstairs hall. We used Premium one coat paint. But still did a few coats because he’s a perfectionist. I got tiered just watching him and you! Definitely a labor of love!!

You may want to look into a type of stain covering paint by the name of KILZ. I had a few stains on one of my ceiling's a few years ago. I used the KILZ , one coat then the ceiling paint one coat. No more stain. I think you may not only be wasting you money but also your time by applying coat after coat of paint, not to mention the painters tape which in itself is quite expensive.

As others have said Primer is your best friend! It saves time, money & energy. Do not believe any paint no matter what brand, no matter what store that says “paint plus primer” just don’t even consider that primer. We built a house in 2018/2019 and I painted the entire house myself! Two story, 2300 sq ft. Miles of trim, doors galore, walls... hubby did the ceilings, bless him. And my best advice after that experience was primer is not optional (especially for new construction) and do not buy the cheapest paint the store has. The price difference is deceptive. You will spend more with multiple coats and anguish with cheaper paint & not using a good primer.

It promises one coat coverage and has proven itself at my house, including a painting over a red (almost maroon) kitchen and two very colorful bathrooms (one blue/purple, the other orange/yellow).
