Great video! Love how you went with a speed paint plus method. So many people burn bridges when they speed paint leaving no room for improvement. Your approach is very nice as it lets the painter choose what they want to invest in the mini. Great job!

When you're doing the transition on the horns in stage 2, what is the lighter grey you're blending with? Sounds like "Slanish grey", which isnt listed in the paints section..Thanks for the tutorial. The finished piece looks excellent.

Unfortunately I already primed without doing the trick to fill out the holes, should have thought about that. :(

You can fill in the holes after you prime it, and since it's a matt varnish, you can paint over it. Those spots might look weird in this case though, because you're using a wash instead of paint. I fill in gaps that I missed all the time, right over the primer.

What is the importance of nuln oil

It creates the illusion of shadow on the underside of your model's details, making the details stand out more. You don't have to use Nuln Oil - but it's a great "go-to" shade color for quick and easy shadows. A lot of experienced painters will paint in the shadows manually with a darker color paint, or use an ink.

Which varnish did you use?

I used a satin varnish on the entire thing (Aegis Suit from Army Painter). But you can then use a matt varnish on top after that dries to places like the yellow arm - or anything that you don't want to look shiny.

@@amorbavian Yeah I would definitely recommend the Nurgles Rot. It looks really cool when you thin it down and splash it on the little guys.

Great paint job! I disliked the various different fixed colors, its nice if you have some specifics, but this is just useless if you dont have exactly this specific color as referene. Also colors are alot different when watching a video and on different displays. In general viewers should be inspiried to paint something similar, like I will, but should not be incentivized to buy more colors (Sidenote: I could totally understand some product placements with affiliate links to help you finance making this videos) A mention of colors and how you can achive a similar result with less specific colors is way more helpfull, especially for beginners. Still I really enjoyed the video keep it up, the enresult is stunning and helped me catch some details that I would have missed!

The colors I use I picked because those were the ones I was able to get my hands on at the time. I wish they didn’t come in that awful green wash, it ruins the otherwise awesome and scary designs and just makes them hard to look at, all of the details lost in a sea of unsightly, cartoonish shrub colour. Oh well, at least it’s an insensitive to get them painted.

Could Tanned flesh from army painter be used on the mouths of the little ones?

Yes, absolutely! The "fleshy" parts of the aliens is really just personal choice. Tanned flesh should contrast fine with their body color.
