For those of you that are using this video as a complete intro into painting minis. I would recommend that you do the Ruffians separately, so you are not overwhelmed by the amount of minis to paint. There are 18 minis total, so taking out the 6 Ruffians might make it more manageable for those that are just starting out.

I'm a brand-new painter and I found your channel through mention by another channel - The MiniJunkie - and I am SO GLAD I did! Your step-by-step instructions in this video makes me feel like I can really paint some great-looking minis! I love that you are very clear on all your supplies, how to mix the different colors, what order to paint the various parts, and how to use the shades to add contrast! Thank you for the great tutorial! I am off to check out the rest of your channel to see if you have any more videos focused on the beginner painter. 😊

It's really striking to me as a relative beginner just how thin the paint is. I know you need to thin it down but I didn't realise it would be that much!
@Sorastro11 ай бұрын
Hi! Yes, but be mindful that I'm thinning the paints more than usual here, as I'm using them more like speed paints ( the Citadel Contrast Colours for example). When aiming for more solid base colours, I certainly won't thin so much 😁

I'm still watching, but I have to comment that I LOVE the beginner guide! I know I'm a bit more experienced now, but I always learn so much when you go back to the basics. Take The Butcher for example: the results are amazing, but the techniques are too advanced and I don't have the right miniatures to practice those techniques often. But now, with this beginner guide again, I can check my techniques throughout the entire video! I love it!

I'm expecting my results to be as nowhere as good as yours but your videos are so detailed and relaxing to watch that I'm confident that using them as a guide will make them turn out great! I'm eager to see how far this new hobby will take me. Thank you so much for the videos and can't wait to see what you have in store for the new models in the Shadowed Paths expansion and beyond!

Thanks a lot Justin! The main thing is that you have fun and enjoy the process. The orcs, goblins and ruffians are a great starting place because you can just enjoy trying different colour combinations out and get a feel for things, without worrying about being too neat or getting things "wrong". Whatever happens your figures will look 10 times better than they do out of the box! :)

@@Sorastro Seriously, you are a talented painter. I've just got into miniatures and followed your guide for the Star Wars Legion core set but nerves and technique are still blighting me (didn't thin paints enough for starters). As a massive Tolkien fan and board gaming geek I just have to own this game. Love the idea of a good drybrush white before painting - never thought of that!

@@darrenw2 Oh cool! I think the LOTR minis are possibly a bit less stressful to paint as we don't have to get the colours to match the iconic images we have in our head (as we do with the Star Wars characters!) - so we can be a bit more free in how we paint them. :)

I'm not gonna lie. I have never painted a single figure on my own and yet I'm watching this series over and over again. I love Journeys in Middle Earth and I dream to have my own copy of the game painted in such a beautiuful way like in this movies. I'm still gettin' my courage to buy all the stuff listed here and begin painting on my own :)

@@Sorastro thank you! Your comment really helped me to get myself together and make a leap of faith! Today I have painted 6 goblin figures 🙂 not quite as well as you did in the video but I'm seriously proud of myself with the result 🙂🙂

Incredibly well made as usual. The production value is very high, and the narration is on point! I don't always agree on your choices of colours and such, but there's no denying your skill! Keep up the good work! I've been painting with oils on canvas for over 20 years and minis with acrylics for 10-ish years, but I always check out your videos. Some learning comes when you least expect it. :)

Thank you very much for this video. I just started painting and your video was amazing to teach me how to mix colors and paitings. I now want to learn how to paint with this bigger brush like you do, amazing!

One of the things I come to these videos for is a clear guide on what part of the model is what. I’m watching and going “ah, that bit’s skin! That’s leather! That part is armour!” These videos are useful in more ways than one for an old man like me with poor eyesight! 🤣

Damnit Sorastro I was holding out on getting this game but seeing as how following your lovely tutorials provides such a zen like experience I’ve gone ahead and ordered it and am delighted to start with the first video! I’ve been out of the painting game for a bit so this will be great getting me back up to speed! Thanks mate. 👍🏼

thanks for the tutorial, it helped a lot and i learn a few new painting things. I liked how you did the injuries on the ruffians and wondered how you would paint the black ork blood on the orc to like as nice as their wounds

Thank you. It never occurred to me to vary the skin tone of Orcs and Goblins. My mindset was "Orcs are green" and that's it. You have opened my eyes and it makes perfect sense. Humans come in many different colours so why should Orcs all be the same? I revelation! an epiphany!
