Painting on silk | Relaxing video | Creating wearable art | Serti technique

Recorded some parts of the project. It took me a couple of days to come up with design and make a sketch but I didn’t film that portion.
This custom order was created in Serti technique on a 100% silk fabric.
It is quite challenging to paint and make a video that will be somewhat entertaining and relaxing to watch.. (I’m still learning to combine these two crafts: painting and video making.)
Hope you enjoy the result of my experiments!

It's beautiful creation..With 👌👍 presentation too.. Can you post a detailed video of background painting as I always faced patches problem while paint a background. I use Pebeo gutta and silk paints. Thanks.

Thank you! 🙏🏽 I will keep this in mind and try to make a video about it soon. Background is tricky because it has to be painted very fast.. preferably with a big brush. Whenever I had a project with a big surface to cover I only used silk dye that requires steaming (to fix the dye) and not the acrylic silk paints. (Like Pebeo) It’s more difficult with acrylic paints for me because they don’t spread as evenly as silk dye.

Thank you! This particular dye requires steaming yes! After outlining the design I let it dry completely and when I applied color I did wet some parts with water and a brush.

Can be combined tecniques of hot wax with canting and pebeo silk paints( instead of chemical dyes which need to be fixed with colour fixer) on the silk? If so, how can it be removed wax? Any instructions to fix the colour? Your answer is much appreciated. Thanks!

@@gulnaaz329 As long as you are using the proper dye for your fabric it’s ok to use any tools for application of your colors (pen brush, sponges, stamps ..) 👍🏽

I used Javana fabric marker that disappears after contact with water, “HDupont” gutta outline and silk dyes of the same brand “HDupont Classic”. 💕

I never used the microwave.. I have a special metal tube for steaming. I show it in my “freestyle” video with purple/yellow scarf

It’s a marker for fabric that disappears when you apply water on it. Javana brand have them and there are others, too.

@@silkforestart5105 I am a beginner in fabric painting, I used gutta from pebeo metallic outliners to draw on chiffon scarfs. After drawing I ironed them then hand washed them in cold water and mild shampoo, the gutta washed out and spoiled the scarf. Is there a way I can prevent this from happening?

You have to fix it accordingly to the instructions. In my case I fixed it in the steamer when I was steaming the scarf. Sometimes I fix it with iron

Can you use silk paints instead of dyes as the only silk paint available in my country are Marabau silk paints (iron fixed)

Yes, I use it sometimes also. It will make your silk a little less soft. But if you use lighter shades the difference is not so noticeable. If you use very dark colors then you can feel the silk more thick and hard

No, not the grey color. It’s just the water. Water makes silk look a little grey on videos.

There are water removable guttas that you can use for this purpose. (I rarely use them.) For me it's mostly hot wax. I extract it from fabric by ironing with paper on both sides and steaming after.
