Good videos and it's especially great to see young people learn trades and do the hard work. I'm older for sure, but it seems like house building has gotten really fussy and complicated. No doubt, in part, due to regs & rules, but also due to an expectant vision of what suitable housing should be. I've had more than 1 uncle who dug/built a basement, roofed the main floor and lived there until they had the money to complete the upper floors. Big families, small bedrooms, 1 bath, no garage. They raised their litters of boomers in these 'tiny' homes, who went on to screw up many things that were already pretty good.

@@MasonDixonAcres As a boomer I need to own-up to the damage my generation has done. My kids and grandkids generations seem a lot more sane, sober and serious. The extreme 'woke' stuff seems a little weird to me, probably just a fad. Anyway, you guys are impressive!

Hey Alex A suggestion I've had a lot of luck with for installing doors: Before placing the door in the frame, take your RO, subtract the width of the outside of your door jamb, and divide in half. Nail shims in approximately this thickness at each hinge location, using a 6ft level to ensure the three shims are in plane and plumb. You can also adjust the shims to be thicker toward the inside or outside of the wall in this step if your framing isn't perfectly square. Once you have those shims set plumb, install the door as you described. It takes all the guesswork out of shimming the hinge side with the heavy door in the way, and you can move on immediately to perfecting the latch side shims.

For others watching do not forget to winterize the paint pump if there is a chance it will freeze.

Black doors on the SW side of the house will get as hot as fire. The paint might fail..

Time will tell! The south door is the eventual addition side so that door won't be exposed forever

Behr is straight garbage. Invented to specifically target novice homeowners and unbeknownst diy'ers. Spend the money on quality paint, and buy once cry once, especially on your doors and trim. Ceilings and walls not as important but still, go to a real PAINT STORE they will have so much more advice and higher quality paint. You would have avoided your first door mistake if you would have gone to a Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore store, even a local hardware store usually carries Ben Moore or PPG. Hell even home depot's carry PPG. On a side note why you are even painting the doors now extremely unwise with all the materials you still need to walk thru your house, having people/ other trades walk in and out thru those doors, you're bound to have some touchups on those doors, I really see no reason why you need to paint them now? Paint trade is one of the last to be in a new house. Good luck

Large material for the upstairs will come through the French door (prefinished) and downstairs through the garage doors. We have used BM InsulX Cabinet Coat before with decent results. Honestly the semi gloss Behr turned out nicely once it was sprayed. It’s like everything else with product marketing - the formulas aren’t actually much different and it’s all branding

@@MasonDixonAcres the formulas can be wildly different. Behr is proven time again to be trash they don't have a bad rep from professional painters for no reason. And again to each their own but I guarantee you'll have a touch up or two on those doors before you move in. It's funny because you go for zip sheathing, liquid applied flashing, quad, a lot of attention to detail. Please go with a mid grade to high end SW, BM, or PPG pain for your interior
