@silverlining_19952 жыл бұрын
The sketch part is most important honestly. Teaches a lot. The rest is also interesting of course. But for beginners or people who struggle with anatomy the sketch helps build and find techniques. also you don’t need to leave the paint in the sun... just open the lid on the self for a while. I use acrylic and water colours and I know the sun can be harsh on the paint ...mine has a good lightfast but even still. the watercolour paints can get mold if it’s left wet as well so I also leave them out to dry, but not in the sun. Air should be enough for yours too. I don’t think there’s much difference... Anyway besides all that, I like the painting and used it as a little colour/ light study. The sketch was also a different technique than I’m used to and will give it a try and see if anything works for me. Cool video. Also love the author. She’s been defending women. Besides that, yes, I daily separate the fiction from the creator. Actors, singers and books etc. Canceling people is wrong. It’s silencing their voice and ruining their lives over a disagreement. People have a right to voice out their disagreements just like they have a right to disagree. I’m glad she’s been talking sense too. As a woman, I appreciate what she’s been saying lately. She only spoke the truth. Regardless how you feel about it, her stories and books haven’t changed. They’re still the same as before and most people enjoy it just the same. If you liked it before, then no reason not to now. Many agree with her, but some do not. Her work is still good regardless. Well, the old ones... personally I really didn’t like the third instalment of that fantastic beasts... was pretty boring amongst other reasons. The first part was good though. I forgot the second lol (pretty sure it was 3 parts..). It takes maturity to respect someone else’s voice even if you don’t agree. Everyone should be talking about it and trying to find level ground or understand each other. If you disagree then okay. Doesn’t change a person’s work or who they are overall. It’s just a small thing. It’s that type of difference that make strength. Don’t let media pin you up against someone just cause you don’t agree... and try to understand why they think the way they do.. maybe even end up agreeing after you understand. Who knows, it happens quite a lot when civil conversation and respect to other people’s voices is present. Again, for emphasis, if you don’t agree then okay. But her books and stories are still just as good in them. If you had no problem before, why now. People can listen to or watch artists or singers etc and not agree with the person/ people on everything else. It’s separate. Don’t let disagreements separate family, friends or just plain ol cancel someone. Somewhere out there there’s someone who disagrees with you, how would you want them to treat you? Say it was a relatively large and loud group who did, how would you want to be treated? It’s a useful question to learn how to handle when you disagree with someone. Anyway, I am glad you said you’re at a point when you can separate the author from her work. It’s a good start. Left a like for that (also cause the painting was nice).

Your painting style reminds me so much of van gogh. It's like you draw with paint. Very much a he did. Van gogh didn't paint at all. He drew with a wet brush. You do paint as a painter would at times and you draw with a wet brush at times. Your sketch work is very reminiscent of Rembrandt. I very much enjoy watching your sketching process as well as your painting process. You, in my opinion, are the most academic artist on KZbin. Yet, you bring a very modern flare to that academic style. Greatest artist on KZbin as far as in concerned.

I share your reservations about Harry Potter fan-things, for the same reasons, but you are very right in saying no one should feel guilty for loving the creation itself. A suggestion for future paintings - how about other fantasy genres like The Witcher, and Tolkien, or as someone else suggested, Sandman or Game of Thrones. There's a lot of wonderful imagery out there - if you wanted to find some magical children's fantasy to rival HP, try Diana Wynn Jones for starters.
