The fact that they draw the border first drives me crazy. Redundant and makes extra work at the end. The galaxies are beautiful though.

Thank you! :) A lot of things could be affecting your galaxies, like too much water, colors not being strong enough, or trying to control the colors too much. I messed up a lot of them before I found a good way to work it out. Keep trying, and good luck! :D

Are the holbein watercolors easy to re-wet while after they have dried in the pallet?

The darkest color is a neutral tint. Close to a black but with a bit more depth to it.

A neutral tint is a mix of colors meant to be like a black with more depth, it's less flat or dull than a regular black. Sometimes it's black with other pigments mixed in and other times is a mix of two colors that completely neutralize each other and create a black color. :) And thank you!

It is immediately available on my palette. You could possibly mix it on your own, but I prefer to buy a tube pre-mixed and have the convenience of a reliable color that I can make super intense if I want to :)

Whoa, how do you get the black to be so opaque?

I used it very thickly. I wet my dry tube paint and really let it sit for a bit, so when I pick it up, it would be almost the same as straight out of the tube. Not all blacks will do that, in my experience the one that worked the best is Holbein's neutral tint.

I'm not sure because it's been some time, but I think it was mineral violet, royal blue and neutral black, by Holbein.
