I think this must be one of the best watercolor galaxies I ever saw. Can't believe your attention to detail. It looks so real! This must be the 1st time I subscribed to a channel after watching just one video!!

Hi Cathy! Thank you very much! :) It had been a while since I painted a galaxy, I had almost forgotten how enjoyable they are to paint!

Beautiful Galaxy! I tried it once, and it looked more like a rainy window...lol...a big blur. I will definitely try it again. You make it look so effortless...truly beautiful : )
@EveBolt7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! :)My very first try at a galaxy was also a great big blur, hehe. There are a lot of failed galaxies that I haven't shown anyone. Every mistake is a step closer to doing it right, is what I tell myself. I hope you'll keep trying, as long as it's fun and not a bother :)

I loved watching the paint splatter, I've always wanted to try it but I'm so scared of making a huge mess lol. Btw the music you chose for your end card is soooo good...
@EveBolt7 жыл бұрын
Hehe, thanks! :D There are ways to limit the mess, but yeah; now everything on my desk has tiny flecks of white paint on it... -shrug-

Hi, Eve. Saw your comments on Angela Fehr's live lesson. Your demo really shows me how much lighter the paints dry! I was sure the picture was going to be too dark. Also, now I know what the "liquid watercolors" are that people were commenting on. I love the finished product.
@EveBolt7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! :) That's a thing to always keep in mind with watercolors; they really do dry a lot lighter than when applied!

Thank you! This tutorial is so helpful! Is that rubbing alcohol in the spray bottle ?
@EveBolt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! No, it just water! I don't use alcohol for these :)

Love this! What brushes are you using? I am particular interested in the first brush that you used to spread the water.

Lol. I think I found my answer in the description box! Should of read that first!

The white mop-type brush I used is a Winsor & Newton series 240, size 1. Any large brush would do, though :)

And where did you buy your watercolors? The dropper thing
@EveBolt7 жыл бұрын
I bought them at a local store, they are Dr Ph Martin's Hydrus liquid watercolors.

Always so beautiful to watch the colors! Do the liquid watercolors feel very different from the ones in a pan? Are you using a mechanical eraser at the end?
@EveBolt7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! :) The liquid watercolors don't feel different, but they are super bright and intense and consistent. If I didn't put out enough paint, I can add some in and it's gonna be the exact shade and intensity of what I already used for the painting. I've successfully painted galaxies with dried tube paints (pans are a bit harder because there's less room to mix and wet paint). The eraser is this one, by Tombow : bit.ly/2jZQXBU

That's good to know about the liquid paints. They look great! The eraser looks so cool too. I'd never seen one like that before. Gosh, whenever I go to the JetPens site I want to buy everything I see.
@EveBolt7 жыл бұрын
Haha, I know what you mean! If I was living in the US, I couldn't stop myself (free shipping from 25$?? That's really easy to do!!). I really like Mono erasers, they are my favorite (from the mechanical to the block ones, best eraser ever.)
@SlothFlorist7 жыл бұрын
I'll have to try them sometime. I do like my Derwent electric eraser, though.

They are an easy item to sneak into a future Jetpens order ;)

What is the meaning of cold press? :)
@EveBolt7 жыл бұрын
It is the type of paper. Watercolor paper usually comes with three textures available: rough is the most textured, cold pressed is textured, and hot press is smooth :)
