First of all, Thankyou for explaining everything in detail. I’ve never seen that masking method with tape. Also, now I know how to cut off the dull part of my knife. I’m so impressed that you can read comments, reply and paint at the same time. Beautiful painting! I love the colors. By the way, at 1.5x speed you didn’t sound like a Chipmunk.

Aside from how well you have your colors down to intuition, Im amazed at how easily and professionally you soften your edges. This singular technique eludes me, lol.

This was a wonderful demo; I missed the live one and so glad to catch up with this. You are a gifted artist but also a wonderful tutor. So much really helpful information; particularly how you used some of the tablecloth colour in the lower end of the spoon, saying it was important not to draw the eye down to that corner. I will remember this in my work. Thank you for your generosity in sharing. Maureen, England

Just got some 300 lb. Paper…can I paint on it without soaking it first? Thank you for your advice.
@shelleypriorfineart Жыл бұрын
You typically don’t need to stretch 300lb paper as it is thick enough that it won’t wrinkle when wet. I would still tape the edges though.

When you pain from a photo from Unsplash ca you sell,it as an original what are the guidelines…thank you
@shelleypriorfineart2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathie. Personally, I only use unsplash, pixabay etc for practice/demo purposes or gifts. I sell my own original work from my own references. However, if I had wanted to sell a painting done from unsplash I would first contact the photographer to thank them for the image and to request permission to sell the painting from their photo. Yes, it’s a copyright-free website but there is always the chance of a few bad players who upload non-original photos. If you don’t get a response from the photographer, it’s the same as a ‘No’. Most photographers have uploaded for free use and would be happy to offer it as painting reference. They would love to know how their photo inspired you and it will insure that you have permission.
