I have sprayer like you. Used it on couple of apartments. I spray half overlaps and I get two coats done in one go. Second, because it is so little mist/paint dust from it, next time I plan to paint the walls first, then the ceiling. I think it will save work in the end, having gravity helping you masking the walls should make it easier. Also I found out that you need to take the handle (gun) apart and clean carefully inside it after few uses or at the end of the Project. There are tiny bits of paints that sit in there and it somehow will at one point start leaking (obviously when you least need it). I am not only talking about the filter in it, but the trigger mechanism. But I really enjoying having tool like this.

Hi there. Thanks for the video - I do enjoy them and they are spot on for me as a DIYer. I am very interested at section 4:49 of the video. The door is half way up the wall, does this go to your house from the hall. I am wanting to do something similar where I can get access to the brick garage to be able to use it as a utility room.

Try Leyland Trade LeyTex paint instead of the Leyland Contract or No Nonsense stuff. Way better in my opinion and fully breathable for new plaster. Just need to water down 10% for the mist coat and then use as normal. Thin down quite a bit for spraying with HVLP, less so with airless. It rolls or sprays amazingly and as usual with the Leyland stuff, it goes on opaque but dries fully white. It’s also super flat so hides any missed imperfections in the plaster. You can even have it tinted, so it’s actually useful on lime plastered solid walls that need to stay breathable.

@5:10 you could actually see the moisture being absorbed by the plaster. By the time you started the next pass the plaster had darkened from the pass prior. Just shows how fast the plaster will wick the water away and how important it is to add water to the paint

Hi Tim, Good job; do you have both the 250 and 350M? Have you used either for doors? We are in the middle of a new build project and am considering getting one of the two mentioned above, but as we will also have skirting and 16 doors, just wondered if you had used either of these models with gloss and Osmo ( not at the same time!), obviously not with a 517 nozzle.

I've only used my graco for trim and doors. No reason you can't with the right tip however it would take over £100 worth of Osmo to prime the hose, a hopper version may be a better option. I just have the 250M.

For contract decorators spraying a domestic sized room is simply uneconomic. Spray painting comes into its own when there is industrial large spaces simply because of all the masking needed. In my experience only around 50% of the sprayed installations achieve the required results. Indeed, on a domestic project the painter who elected to spray a dining room ended up wasting vast amounts of time cleaning up all the overspray. Some years ago a contractor was spraying a coating on the columns of a car dealership. Momentarily, the wind changed direction and blew the overspray out of the double doors, which landed on 123 cars in the parking area - used cars for sale, customer cars for service and staff cars. Only a few cars were successfully cleaned before the paint dried, the rest being 'T' Cut over the next few weeks. The contractor's insurers took a hammering that day! Spray painting buildings might seem a good idea but a cold hard look at the realities of masking up and cleaning up against the time benefits needs to be carefully considered.
@chrispollard100
@chrispollard100 2 жыл бұрын
There's not much over spray with these sprayers if use correctly, as for masking up, if you have the proper tools, ie, hand masker and masking film for windows etc, it doesn't take any time at all. Ive been a decorator for 37 years and yes i mostly done it the conventional way but bigger jobs i use the spray, its 10 times quicker, better finish, it make a change and its fun.
@clivewilliams1406

@@chrispollard100 I don't doubt their quality/productivity but in my experience as an Architect of 40+ years it all comes down to the quality of masking up and unfortunately the tradesman abilities/care and aptitude today are woeful. Larger jobs will benefit from spraying but I have a anecdote that cost the builder's insurers £100,000s due to lack of care when spraying. The small domestic scale jobs have inevitably been a disaster due to rushed masking.

@@chrispollard100 It's good to meet an old school decorator that actually takes the occupation as a skilled trade. Too many are now reaching retirement age, which goes for most building tradesmen, leaving the dross. Also, too many so called decorators are guys who took a redundancy payment and set up a business because they decorated the lounge! The last one I had didn't even know what decorators caulk was!!!!! A good decorator can make a bad job look good but a bad decorator can make a good job look bad - guess which applies all too often?
