I agree on this. Green is such a strange color when I add green on my painting it feels so out of place. Even when painting trees or grass I always use color closer to the color of the sky, could be blue-ish or reddish or a bit of yellow/brown. Green only works if the painting itself a monochrome painting using only green.

Green is one of the most difficult parts of the colour spectrum. Demands acute sensitivity to handle them well, lots of grey and really subtle harmonic concords to make them convincing. Try mixing them down with red so you ain’t just stuck running through premixes if you want to get more landscape elements into your future work mate, it’s absolutely key to a ‘natural’ look. James Gurney’s book on Light and Colour is an excellent reference book for anybody struggling with colour and realism (even magic realism!)

Outside of movies, television shows, and anime, what inspires your subject matter? Your artwork is brilliant, and when I paint I often can't think of any cool ideas, I feel my biggest weakness is thinking of something to draw and paint, and then finding a way to properly compose and convey that on paper before moving onto the painting process. Thanks in advance!

@fuzzywondersock17222 жыл бұрын
I follow you as an artist because I hate blue and never use it in my work. I admire your use of red and blue so much because I almost exclusively use rust orange and olive green in my work. I think it is kind of silly that your hate of green and my excessive love of green is why I admire you so much. The painting turned out great, and I am proud of you for getting out of your comfort zone so much. Trying new pigments in watercolor can be so hard since you never know quite how it will sit in the paper or work with other colors. Great job!

Stellar work as always, Hieu. That note at the end though 😂 ❤️ (House of Flying Daggers is a timeless classic too!) Your level of artistry is something I aspire to achieve one day. I've been wanting to ask you, have you thought of ever making an official artbook? (Technically speaking your Insta and KZbin are fantastical magazine I always browse and study). I'm not sure if (you probably have) been asked already but that's something I'm sure many people would love to have at home. Maybe one where each painting has a short story and detail your inspirations? As I said in an earlier video, I'm new to watercolour and I'm slowly reconnecting with my artistic side. Painting is a whole new medium and you are one of the many reasons why Im going to brave it and try something new! Either way, much love from London 🙏❤️
