Painting the Smurrf Mustang GT My DREAM COLOR! (Paint ASMR)

After days of prep work and color choices the Smurrf Mustang GT is finally getting painted! Today we are going to spray it "TDIB Blue." We start with Nitrous blue and go absolutely crazy with it to create the ULTIMATE Smurrf color. Chris from SSR collision has done amazing work so far and I can't wait to see the finished product! Chris is probably my favorite painter of any I have seen on youtube. He actually knows how to do his job and isn't afraid to show what actual professionals do. Every video I have seen of David's he is in he does exactly what I have seen my dad do in his shops over the last 10 years I've helped him and techniques he has learned over his 20 some years of experience. Apart from using a respirator when sanding because he is the first professional painter I have seen who actually does that, watching him paint is exactly like how it is watching my dad do prep and paint

That colour is FANTASTIC. I love the idea of spicing up the factory colour even more now. My 25 year old SN95 Mustang still has decent condition factory paint, but I know that the Deep Forest Green would pop even more with that little bit of extra flake.

I like it, my 1st custom paint job was similar in concept. My beloved '86 GTI got sprayed with another coat of VW alpine white and then we covered it in a gold pearl that GM used on Buick Rivieras at the time. It was so darn sharp in the sunlight. I also painted my rollbar to match. Thanks for the relaxing moments 😎

Same if I had a S197 which is funny enough my realistic dream car, I’d be taking my car here to get painted OEM Orange fury most likely with an extra coat of pearl. I love that Mustang color after seeing it irl.

There’s some good paint shops out there near everyone. But it all depends on how much money you’re willing to put out because almost every shop uses the same paints. But the more you pay, the more effort they’ll put into prep and so on.... Or into custom paint.

@@robochoa7387 totally agree, I paid 1000$ for a shop to paint my RSTI bayside blue (R34 oem color) and looked great but paint is starting to peel and bubble in a few spots after just a little over a year.

I have the same paint mixing scale as you do, they sell plastic covers for them to keep them nice. Couldn’t tell in video if you had one or not. Hell of a job on the car, looks nice!

My truck is tuxedo black. Can't wait to see how it looks on your roof and contrasts to the car. Mine changes colors sometimes looking charcoalish depending on light and the metal flake also seems to help hide small surface scratches.

Looks great David. I’m glad you stayed with the grabber blue base line. Now tons of wet sanding! It looks like this guy done a great job tho. I used to paint cars. You gotta lay down that clear heavy to help prevent excess orange peel. I’m not saying this paint needs it... I see a little orange peel, but it looks great. Wet sanding from here is not a necessity, just a bonus to make it really pop!
