You have an amazing talent! I also watched your video on creating the chippy wood panels and then continued onto this video… Just amazing. I am watching for kind of the same reason as the other Kim :-) I love old weathered painted decor working on a 6 foot tall antique very ornate French bed. It might be a little ornate to go full chippy, but many of the aging techniques you used would really be beautiful. The bed naturally has some cracking and craze lines in it that I chose to leave because I love the imperfections. I’m using milk paint and there are some tannins coming through but in the most beautiful way!🎉 Thank you so much for sharing your amazing skills… I know these things take time to develop but if you love doing these things, isn’t it just so much fun?

I found your channel looking for how to make realistic concrete roads for a diorama of Brooklands racetrack I want to make. Then I ended up watching you build and paint the window. My first house had a wooden garage that had a window that looked exactly like this. Right down to the old white paint and grime and mould.

Wow! Thanks Gabriel!..the main stuff is really just salt - acrylic and enamels paints..the xtreme thinner was just kind of a last minute experiment...Garbriel... a couple times messing around with this technique and you'll be an old pro!

I use there other 2 pots from the AK wood wash set for rust more than wood! The blackish browns fine for wood but the other yellow ochre for sand and the orange is not really a wood effect! Rotten maybe haha but this looks great I'm wanting to do a flaked paint effect of the floor of my Belgian Minerva CSM kit!

Oh my, how talented you are! Do you want to come paint my 12 foot x 20 foot shed for me? lol. It's exactly the look I want but in a project that big with so many steps and products, it would take me 5 years, lol. I love the tutorial and how realistic it looks. Maybe I could try it on a picture frame. Wonderful job, it gave me inspiration to attempt on my own!
@JeffReiten Жыл бұрын
😯☺Hey Lisa Wilson!! Thank You!! - It was a fun Tutorial to Make! - Funny that you bring up doing a real life scale of this....I actually did the real life version ( kind of ) ....Started with a few Picture frames like You Brought up ( Fun manageable place to start )...My Mom saw those and wanted me to attempt an old China Hutch so I did....then somebody saw that and wanted their kitchen table weathered up....and so on...Ended up doing quite a few projects - including an interior stucco wall - for friends and family over the years.. .I mostly stick to the smaller scale stuff these days cause it is a ton of work but also a ton of Fun....Not sure if you have come across a video of the "Hair Spray" technique but you should look it up....works well in combination with the "Salt Tech" - throw a few washes over the stuff and Your there 😉...So glad You Enjoyed the Video and Thanks Again for the Kind Compliments

How did you get the base colour to make the wood look weathered in the beginning, or was it already weathered? I don't think the thinner got too extreme at all. If that window had been left outside since 1946 that's what it would like.

Hey Elena!...I use weathering powder from a number of companies and have found they all work pretty well....heres a few links www.ebay.com/itm/373610370759?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28&var=642619130883

@kimkichinko24453 жыл бұрын
I am speechless. Beautiful work. Question...I would love to be able to create like you do but on furniture with water base chalk paint. Would really appreciate your thoughts?
@JeffReiten3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kim ! Thank You for the kind words!...I would start with painting on the chalk paint color over a non water based color base-then allow it to mostly cure then hit it with one of those green abrasive scrubby sponges used to clean dishes.....if that doesn.t work you could paint on the color chalk paint let dry and use a few different grits of sandpaper to take off the paint....might be cool to layer up a few base colors using sponges and then take off the paint with the green scrubby or sandpaper to create a layered paint color effect....i guess if you wanted to get really crazy you could just use the salt technique..salt is cheap so use it as a mask just like I did in this video..dab on water then used a combo of reg salt and bigger sea salt to creat mask..dab on chalk paint with sponge...let dry and scrub off salt/paint areas with green scrubby and maybe a little sandpaper...Hope this Helps and Thanks again for the compliments

Hey Colossal BigShot, I have used almost every type brush out there..I have a bunch of really nice brushes that I'm always saving for my next project-lol....I have found myself using these www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=DChcSEwiRoISm1ajpAhXjCX0KHXThAL8YABBCGgJwdg&sig=AOD64_1GLLq5F9DGlJUnizEy3prLDv9j3g&ctype=46&q=&ved=0ahUKEwjInvul1ajpAhUXqJ4KHcmLBsAQww8I0QU&adurl= over the last few years..I'm really hard on brushes and have tried to trash these by using them with every type of paint,plaster strange chemicals out there and they seem to hold up..whats really nice is I don't have to worry about ruining them..for figure painting and really precise detail I go with AK brand brusheswww.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=DChcSEwiA-aOO16jpAhVRHH0KHcq2AN8YABAGGgJwdg&sig=AOD64_1azpHwblQXhDxaK7XqjwKu7VYduQ&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwjQgpuO16jpAhWYJzQIHZnTDlYQ9aACegQIDhBD&adurl= Hope this helps and thanks for the kind compliments
