I am literally about to try this and was going to search for glitter which would have taken ages to figure which was correct etc then wait days for it to arrive. I had totally forgotten they do it in B&Q! You’ve saved me wasting a few days which I’m totally grateful for. I normally pour half of the paint into another container and pour the glitter into the paint. Then pour back the other half of the paint and start stirring the paint.

If you give a light sanding ( very light) it should sparkle more, as your removing some paint from the surface of the glitter

Also removing glitter. And scoring your finished surface. Coat whatever your coating 1st without the glitter and add it on the finishing coat to get best results

@@mikekralj1447 wouldn't risk that maby mess the finished result. I would coat it with the paint on its own then add the glitter for the final coat, if you give it 2 coats with the glitter your just painting on top of the glitter and ruining they effect.

It works in clear varnish as well I will be doing a video on a feature wall using varnish with glitter over a colour. It's all about what light falls on the wall.

Funny enough just did a feature wall myself and like you rather than do a base coat then a glitter coat I went straight in for 2 coats. You hit the nail on the head I used a paint trough to mix made it so much easier to mix

I’ve just painted the kitchen and front room, I mixed 500G of glitter per 5L of paint and it looks ace, about the same as this on both walls, I used ultra fine glitter in kitchen and in front room the glitter was almost like caster sugar

Glitter can be quite expensive. I would use just a fraction of that in a clear coat of acrylic varnish to overcoat a whole room

Hi. I used glitter in my paint today. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I mixed two packs in 2l of paint and roller it on. The glitter is very very subtle. I can't even notice it unless I look very hard.

You can try rubbing the surface which sometimes seams to make more glitter show, but make sure you do it evenly. It's difficult to use.

Another good tip I picked up the other day from a rep is as soon as the paint has gone off is to buff the wall lightly with a cloth to take any paint of the glitter which will highlight it more haven't tried it yet so don't know if any good

Try gold glitter on black wall. Use less glitter - add 0.06%wt glitter to an acrylic clear /varnish and overcoat the black background coat. Stir the clear frequently to ensure uniform cover of glitter. Wonderful result if the background is a textured coating.

When you have a colour mixed sometimes there can be pigment that has not mixed in around the lid and sides of the top of the tin. Usually I pour paint into a bucket and mix myself making sure no pigment is left in the tin. It's sometimes when you don't do that and you touch up out of the tin and can look different. Also there is flashing when you can just see were it has been touched up slightly different sheen. Also touching up with a brush on a rolled wall is a no no.

Best to use a roller and stir paint loads with the glitter in... best to double what they say.. mix it like you would a packet of paste. And when dry you can rub over with a cloth and it works paint of the glitter.
