I've always liked toupret tx110 for interior work, after a while you get used to the slump, drying time etc and it always seems a bit strange on occasion when I use something else.

@@PsBandofMen What about Ronseal Smooth Finish. I've found it to be very good.

@bitTorrenter never used it so can't comment on it

Quick Drying polyfiller - mixed to a hard-stop after 1st coat and covered with a mini roller before 2nd coat. I do a lot of single rooms, get a coat on the ceiling, prep walls, 2nd coat ceiling then 1st coat walls and then fill. I use a fair bit of CT1 and OB1 around windows and over all the lifted silicone I come across in new builds. I use the little silicone profiles to make it neat and then paint over it.

Toupret fillers are excellent, the Axus decor fillers also excellent but difficult to find.

Generally use Toupret TX110 as my go to every day filler , the Fill-flex they make is also really good for problem cracks and gaps . Not keen on Polyfilla.
@NiktheEnglishGreekCypriot2 жыл бұрын
I implement the same as these guys with regards to the foam etc, but same with the polyfilla, shrinks like max even compared to easi fill, on some areas it took 3 generous fills.

151 instant filler ready mixed interior filler in a pot or a gun tube as good as any iv used and iv used most and its only £1.00 from pound land an absolute bargain.

I mix filler in a flexible rubber bowl with a silicon spatula , a lot quicker i find.

Toupret TX110 all purpose, no depth limitation. Toupret Joint and Skim ready-mixed tub for overfilling. Toupret Wood Repair Powder for wood, also no depth limitation. Leave Polyfilla behind. For caulk it's Geocel Interior/Exterior green tube, never need anything else - dries hard in 1/2 hours under good condition, paired with Zinsser Cover-stain you're laughing. Spray-foam tend to buy No Nonsense Gun Grade, which is about a fiver a go. Not worth bothering with the non gun-grade stuff.

Polyfilla for most things, gyproc easyfill for large areas like smoothing bumpy plaster, or areas that are going to be knocked/splashed. Lightweight filler for deep holes in ceilings. Caulk for new skirting and archs

Murex for anything deep, interior or exterior, Toupret fine surface over the top to sand. Painter's Mate caulk is the business too.

Tetrion powder filler for big holes , plaster repairs Toupret red light for pins and fixings , sands so easy Toupret fine surface for 2nd filling woodwork And always have a bucket of ready mixed joint cement for small dents on walls and around sockets also skimming out trowel marks also would be ideal for lining paper joints Siroflex caulk Don’t see your problem with caulk and never used foam in my life Painting 45 years

Hi i seam to be getting a lot of paint flashing where the filler is, especially when going up/down a staircase. I have used polyfilla and Toupret and still getting the same thing. I did use a hard stop on the second fill after the first coat of emulsion. Whats your thoughts on how i can rectify this and not have the problem in the future? many thanks
@PaintingandDecorating Жыл бұрын
It's possible you have a different texture on the areas you have filled, also if the fill is not level it will show all day long. Flat even filler to the surrounding area. And the same amount of texture all over the wall. Thanks

I've got a challenge for you. 1930s house. Theres an outside corner in my hallway that isn't all straight and vertical it dips in 2" above the skirting board forming another flat surface about 3" wide before returning to straight again at the top. I see no way of papering that without cutting bits of paper and even then i'd have to be incredibly accurate.
@PaintingandDecorating2 жыл бұрын
Very difficult.. you have to cut out the correct part of the pattern, and fit it in to the small part.. then paper flat and trim round. Thanks

try mixing it in a 4 inch roller tray ,,,, way way easier , washes up quick and easy , wont drip and easy to use up a ladder.

I too use a mini roller tray, I've a thumb hole drilled in mine for a easier grip.

Anyone know of a quick drying exterior masonry filler?? Was using toupret but it says not to paint over it for 3 days.I just need to get on with painting on the same day. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
@Deludedcrackhead Жыл бұрын
Just knock up a bit of sand and cement then sponge off when it starts to dry. If it's a big crack or failure of the topcoat then a bit of hydrated lime will allow for a bit of flexibility.
