The timing of this is truly unbelievable. Did a 1st coat of paint on lining paper yesterday and was planning on trawling youtube for disguising seams tips today. This is an unspeakably massive help thanks!

EVERY TIME 🙀 Your videos always educate but this one? Thank you so much had never heard of “hard stop filler” but it’s already changed my decorating stress level down substantially 😊 Even the polyfilla mixing was a game changer for me. I have spent years mixing it in a soup bowl with a fork for 30 seconds! No wonder it dries like an ant hill and takes the orbital sander to smooth it. Will be using your method from now on.

Very interesting. I can see where this would work and will use it for some of the tips given. I have just filled in some holes, and I used a brush to paint broadly over them with water-based primer.

Good tip especially if you are only going to apply one coat of paint then you might see a small hole to fill after the coat of paint

Is it possible to make a good hard stop filler using premixed joint/patching compound? Powdered fillers, like PolyFilla, are not easy to find or to buy in the US. Again, a great video.

Thank you.. sure it will work.. just try a small amount..

My hard stop filler keeps cracking along the lining paper joints after final coat of emulsion. Takes about 10 days to 2 weeks to do so. Any idea why and how to stop it. Was using polyfilla One Fill mixed with Crown Kichen Easy Clean. Could it be the filler isn't ideal for this application?
@PaintingandDecorating2 жыл бұрын
Possible it's the filler, we use easy sand pollyfilla. Not had problems like that, it also could be that paint with that filler. Thanks

What's the main benefit of powdered filler? You only use what you need each time? Seems a faff
@PaintingandDecorating2 жыл бұрын
All depends on what your doing.. sometimes we may buy small tubes of filler.. so you can keep it in your pouch when doing large jobs and you don't know when you need to use filler. But generally we like to mix are own to the right consistency.. depending what we are filling.
