This is what I bought to do my truck, also bought that brand of primer. First time ever painting so I’ve watched a bunch of your videos! Bought 3 guns for each application. Plus a bunch of supplies that I needed. Tack cloth, paint prep, sandpaper, glass cleaner, microfiber cloths. I was happy with the primer and the paint I put on. I did 4 coats of red paint. When came time to clear coat I thought I had the gun set right according to instructions on the can. Well after spraying the inside of the tailgate it was leaving like tiny air bubbles. 😳 Well reaching out to others I was told my psi was to low, needed to try 30psi coming out of the gun. So I started on the underside of the fenders and once I started it was night & day difference!! So thankful for your help !!! 👍🏻😁

Great clear for the money. Been using fc720 for awhile have a small collision shop. Haven’t had no complaints years down the road holds up nice.I spray three coats doesn’t matter if it’s a complete or repair. It’s my go to clear the price is right for the set up. I’m not new to this used many different products. It will and does cut and buff nice if needed. First coat coverage second medium wet third wet. Each coat I increase pressure. That’s what works for me lays right down.Brian’s a good teacher one thing about painting can always learn more. If you get tunnel vision most likely you’ll be stuck with bad habits.

I used to love using the FC720 because of how easy it was to spray and how it shines, but noticed that over time it dies back and looks dull over time. It mainly did it on darker vehicles. I had a black Altima that I did some work on and a year later the customer wrecked it again. The car still looked good because it mainly sat under the garage. It was another black Altima that I worked on and a year later the customer wrecked it again and it was dull. I know that car sits out in the sun a lot. I've learned that they came out with an FC740, which I was thinking that would be a HS clear. I called their tech support to get more info on it and even he told me that none of those clears hold up well to UV rays.

I've used the Acme clears before and I for the most part preferred the 720 as it just seems to level out a little better, I've never really cared for fast hardener in any brand as it just doesn't flow and level as well, but for the money the Acme stuff is hard to beat, I do recommend for painters to stick with one or two brands so you can get familiar with how it performs and that helps cut down on unwanted suprises and one of the most important steps when you do start laying down the clear, and I always hear you mention it, is watch the material as your laying it down and make adjustments in technique and or gun settings to obtain the best results, and if you don't paint a lot spray a test panel first.

This clear was a game changer for me when I found it at the advice of a local NAPA mechanic. Suddenly the chances of runs dropped drastically, dry spots or other weirdness declined. Feels good to spray and is very predictable. Other budget brands I used sprayed like water and if that happens, you're gonna have a bad time. I was recently equally impressed by some of the speedokote super fast clears. 100% would recommend. My paint cabinet is packed with Finish 1 and Speedokote.

@@2koolforyou88 I used the glamour production clear. what I really liked was that if you are even reasonably good at laying clear, chances of runs are so little. Spray it wet and as you see it on the surface when you spray it is how it's going to be when it dries. Unless you realllllllly mess up. really eliminates some of the guess work on how much a clear will flow out and that fine line between laying flat or running and ruining the job. The quick drying time was great at minimizing junk that may float into the clear as it sets in a less than perfect environment, and the gloss was right up there with anything else I've used. Used it on about half of a black car and the car was sprayed, unmasked and outside within 2 hours.

I was using Dupli-Color multipurpose foaming (water-borne) prep spray and had some fish eyes which I think were caused by the cleaner, waited approx. 3min before applying spray can base. No one seems to address wait times after applying cleaners. Is it no minutes, 1 minute, 5-10 minutes? Next prep I did with just a light spritz of mineral spirts and light wipe with a microfiber towel, let if flash off for a few minutes and it worked great, no fish eyes or adverse reactions.

Hi Brian, I have an Iwata LPH94 and can't find any info on what it was meant to spray, how much psi etc. It's a 1.4 and I have sprayed clear on a couple of cars and it's OK but maybe I am missing something. Thanks for any help, Tim.

Hey Brian! Love the videos and info. As a small DIYer can you go over bumper, trim, and emblem removal? It is different on all cars but an overview would be great.

It's different on all cars. I always search for a OEM service manual and usually I can find one for free. It shows exactly how to remove everything.

Did you have the fluid level wide open? I use it all the time and love it, especially the spot panel

I learned to spray with finish 1 clear, used it for about 7 years but got away from it when we switched to a PPG dealer.

Impressive. Any feedback as to how it compares to Matrix clears?

I'm Looking for the most durable, long-lasting paint and clear for a truck that lives outside in the desert of SoCal. I don't ever want to paint it again. The factory paint on it lasted 23 years, the last 12 have been outside with no garage. It's a 2k S10 in Olympic White. The paint has not failed yet. It just has nicks and dings and is due. Are there any paints and clears that can be used to get the same durability? Cost is not a factor. Having to do it again in 5 years will be far more expensive than paying for good products.

What if you skip the base coat? Like if there’s still some paint, I suppose in that case he wouldn’t be sanding down first.

After you clear coat yr vehicle with this brand how many years will it last before fading or peeling? Some brands will last two years while others I heard can last 10 years. Under normal weather circumstances. And no wax protection,
