A mi juicio la mejor versión del Pajero (o Montero por estos lados) antes del cambio a carrocería monocasco. Igual me gusta la versión más antigua, la cuadrada. Ya no hacen vehículos así.

I have a Gen III Pajero with the 4m40-t on it, but mine is way off yours, my engine isn't able to rev above 2.8k to 3k😢, most of the time about 2k rpm running at a 45km/h cruise speed. I will rebuilt the pistons and hone cylinders next week since it is low compression. I hope I could have a funcional 4m40 after that 😢 I love my Paj, love the size, love the engine noise, love the off road capabilities, love the look, etc

Averías típicas son poca cosa, electroválvulas de la superselect y si es viejo junta de culata, por lo demás pues los cuatro silentblocks etc

Is there any simple way to squeeze out more power? Not satisfied with only 120hp and the narrow torque band peaking to 2000rpm. Just wanna make the torque curve more flatter and make more power out of it.

Add 3mm washers to the waste gate to delay its opening, and adjust the fueling for the injection pump. I strongly advise adding an EGT gauge so you don't risk melting pistons with too much boost and fuel. You can find more detailed instructions on several forums.

It's one shit vehicle Short engine life Heavy on maintenance and fuel.nothing compared to Toyota or any other contemporary vehicle of its type. This is no ordeal for even a AWD car or cross over .

Not sure what you're talking about. This is one of the better Japanese diesels. No timing belt to snap, instead this engine has twin timing chains. Just keep the cooling system maintained, change the oil regularly, and the 4M40 will easily outlast any petrol engine and give a competitive service life to other diesels.
