Please see part 1 for making the DIY false floor.
In Part 2, I fit a second AGM Gel battery, Solar panel, Inverter, and on board air compressor. All housed in the under-floor compartment. I show you how I boxed up my RHS wheel well and create a control panel of switch blocks and outlets for both 12v and 240 (mains) power.
I chose to leave the second battery isolated from the starter battery. This way it can never run the starter battery flat. The solar panel is 160w and is provides surplus power for my fridge, air compressor and recharges the stand-alone 135Ah gel battery.
Any questions? I would love to answer them. Thanks.

Great work! I WISH I could permanently remove the third row, as I'd do exactly what you've done. Despite that though, you've still given me plenty of ideas.

Nice build mate. Have you thought about putting a fan near the compressor to circulate the air to prevent any hot spots? Thanks for mentioning where you bought the air fittings, I tried Bunnings & SCA but had no luck, so I ended up using the barb fitting like you first showed.

Nice job. Really efficient use of a small space. Take it that battery is sealed so no fumes released inside the cabin?

Wonderful and professional work .. I have a question about the ventilation holes of the rear closed air conditioner fan, does it affect?

Hi there old mate, just watched ya vid in 2021 and looking for paj ideas. I did notice in ya 1st vid that the door u cut in went in all the way to edge, however in the next vid of u installing the box setup etc it looks like u cut it slightly back so u could still get axcess to the under floor storage. Would this be correct thanks.

love this series, trying to replicate something + shelves in my own pajero. just wondering, why'd you use mdf for that side box instead of plywood?

Hi mate, great videos. In securing the battery to the floor of the third row seat well, how did you do this? Doesn't show how you actually secured it. Also with the compressor how did you secure that too? Was it just to the plastic liner? Thanks!

Thanks mate. At about 9:34 you'll get the best view of the battery bracket. The chrome rods go through the liner and from memory on one side there is a metal subframe that i drilled a hole through so the chrome rod 'bent end' could go through. For the compressor I dremel'd 2 holes at each end of the compressor through the liner and metal and ran heat proof straps from each end around the compressor (lower half) then sikaflex'd the strap holes back up to prevent water and dust ingress.

Did you shorten the width of the plywood (floor) on that side so the box could fit in without hindering the floor hatch from opening? In the first video you mention to measure wheel arch to wheel arch but in this video it looks like the MDF (wall of the box) is not sitting on top of the plywood but sitting next to it....Sorry for the dumb question mate but I'm going to try and do the same because your set up looks awesome. I just want to get it right

The power box bolts on top of the floor using 3 x L shaped brackets and some screws. The hatch has a couple mm clearance so it doesn't contact the side of the box. If you need to, shave a couple mm off the side of the hatch lid if it comes anywhere near your box. Another two of those L shaped brackets can be used to stabilise the top of the box if needed.

Hey mate. Sorry - second set of questions... What air compressor hose and fittings did you use for the extension from the compressor to the box (do you have links). Also what attachment or combination of attachments did you use to connect hose through the box? Much appreciated.
@Unfastened
@Unfastened 4 жыл бұрын
All good James! So I bought the air hose and Nitto fittings from my local 'Total Tools' shop, but any hardware store should carry them. Beware that the air hose will get really hot at the compressor end. I originally used air hose from the shop but after blowing one out, I ended up butchering an airline off my old compressor (the rubber hose that comes with the portable air compressors) and it's held up fine. To go through the box I used a threaded Nitto (male) for the bit that pokes out the box. On the back of that is a 1/2" spacer fitting (female one side, male on the other). The male part of the spacer goes on the inside of the box then i used a washer and a thin bolt on the inside of the box to hold it. Then a female to barbed fitting to connect it to the hose. Sorry I dont have links, everything was from my local.
