Very handy vid, thanks Brett. I'm going out tomorrow to see if I can get the jack (out of the car) and importantly find the jacking points.

The different size spare had me worried. I checked and found a mag wheel + 18" tyre of 235X60. All good. Maybe your vehicle previous owner changed your spare? I like your videos --- keep them going. Thanks.
@DENMONKEY
@DENMONKEY 3 жыл бұрын
aw man, maybe it is just me then. 235/60 is a low profile. the standard is 265/60 i think here. did you change to them or that is what was on it ?

Great to see a channel with gen 4 Pajero info. Did you end up buying a new spare to match the rest? and at that size will it still fit in the carrier?
@DENMONKEY
@DENMONKEY 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. I do need to and did ask a shop about getting one with the same diameter in a 17 to match my 18s and they did they had something but I never picked it up. So not sure about the carrier. Pretty sure others have fitted that size up there without mods but funny quote me.

How did you get the rear row seats out? My 2004 Pajero has a metal part which prevents the seats from sliding out of the bracket.
@MicksGarageDarts
@MicksGarageDarts 3 жыл бұрын
Gen 3 I know and I think Gen 4 is the same. When bringing the seats out as if you are setting them up, leave the front leg folded up against the seat so when you sit it down the seat should be front side low. It should then just slide straight out backwards.
@DENMONKEY
@DENMONKEY 3 жыл бұрын
What mick said. Not sure on the gen 3 but you need to get the angle right for the to pull out on the gen 4. I took them out about 5 years ago, so don't recall exactly.

@@DENMONKEY so Gen 3 & 4 are the same. Mine's gen 3 and that's exactly how I do mine not that they are in the car anyway. Like you I've got my 2nd battery and stuff in there.

Because I put 5 slightly bigger tyres on, I couldn't use my towbar. So I bought one of those lift plates off eBay, then couldn't close the 'garnish' around the spare wheel. Then I had to use my Dremel to modify the garnish and leave my spare tyre flat to close it all around it 😕. Pretty poor design to allow a rear view camera and number plate, if you ask me. Also, cannot use a rear wheel rubbish bag thingo over the spare due to obscuring the number plate. Just as well I really like how capable the rest of my NW is, otherwise I would be saying some pretty terrible things about how crappy that design for a rear wheel carrier is. There you go, Brett. Here's a video for you...what solutions to my issues do you know? Commented before you finished. See you obviously have the same concerns. Never mind, just helped a mate with a flat tyre on his Audi Q7...great performing and luxurious car, but no spare and relying on spray in goo and a shitty, cheap arse compressor to deal with punctures, that is a NO from me. Pity, because otherwise those bloody Q7's are pretty f$%king fabulous.

Hi Karl, I know the later models have that stupid plastic bit over the top and whilst I can't give you a solution to the spare other than chopping off bits to get it to fit, I can tease you with this thread www.pajeroforum.com.au/forum/commercial-advertisers/commercial-advertisers-aa/scorpro/59309-expressions-of-interest-in-a-wheel-bag-kit?t=57851 . If you're not a member and can't see the images, you can see it here www.google.com.au/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww2.pajeroclub.com.au%2Fforum%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D63423&psig=AOvVaw3rfhGli6szT3FUl0D9Kdqv&ust=1605528623071000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAIQjRxqFwoTCNjqpK7ChO0CFQAAAAAdAAAAABAD Hopefully that worked. One of the guys 3d printed an extension the the rear wheel cover which allowed space to stick a wheel bag inside the cover. Bloody nifty idea. Problem is, I don't believe he continued to make them beyond a batch or 2. I would have snagged one. Maybe if you're nifty though .....

Hi Brett, did you need to lift the Pajero to get the 32" tyres to fit? I have a new 2020 Pajero GLX & it has 30.5" tyres on it from factory but bigger tyres are definitely on the list of things to do.
@DENMONKEY
@DENMONKEY 3 жыл бұрын
Good question Dean and I don't know as I did the lift first before the tyres. I had remove the little mid flaps at the front and bend the little bracket at the back of the front wheel to stop them from rubbing at full lock but that was after the lift

@Davwaltech 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Brett, Just something to watch, if you are running like 33's on the car and you put a standard spare on (I think theyre a 31 or 31.5?) you might end up with the stability control going a bit nuts because you are running different diameter wheel so the speed sensors will be read a different speed from the smaller diameter wheel than the rest of them. Best to keep your spare the same diameter as the rest of the car?
@DENMONKEY
@DENMONKEY 3 жыл бұрын
cheers Dave, yeah I would expect that to be likely. I keep promising myself it's not worth it because I'm going to 17s when these ones wear out. It might be some time though. I do have a matching set of steelies which will give me a set of 5 for when I make the change but I might look at a set of patrol or triton rims.

@@DENMONKEY hey Brett, do you have any leads on 17" steelies for these? I've got factory steelies on mine but wanted to swap to those D hole style last year when I put BFGs on but no-one could source anything for them. Front caliper hits the "spokes" part of the rim on everything aftermarket that I tried.

After watching this Im glad I own a Gen 3 with a soft cover lmfao. Much easier to access the wheel lol... Pretty stupid they dont upsize the spare as well but as long as it is the same rolling diameter it shouldnt be an issue. Ive been told if you have to use a slightly different sized tyre for a spare to always install it on the front and run 2wd as it can cause issues with the diff otherwise.
@DENMONKEY
@DENMONKEY 3 жыл бұрын
It does make it harder to up size but it's not that hard to get into. Yes different sizes tyres can stop the super select working. Even tyre pressures being different from left to right on the front can throw it out and stop it from changing. So if it doesn't want to change from 2h to 4h, the first thing I check is tyre pressures.
@MicksGarageDarts

@@DENMONKEY Gen 3 has the same issue with upgrading tyre size. You need the spacer or you hit the rear bar with anything over 31 I think. I've stayed stock.

They did exactly the same thing with the Diamond models here in Pommyland (I mean the UK ;) ). Mitsubishi UK stuck 20" rims on the four road wheels, and a 17 limited speed spare on the back, the morons. I replaced the lot with 17" allows all round. Drives a damn sight better too :)

@DENMONKEY

I think you can air it up if you rotate it right. But it will depend how the tire sits on the rim. Since you don't have to do it often I just leave it as is and open it up to air it
