Pakse is the capital city of Champasak Province in southern Laos. It was found by the French colonists in 1905 when Laos was part of French Indochina.
Now this city is the third largest city in Laos, well known for, having one of the best cuisine, coffee and the 11th century ruined Hindu temple complex called "Watt Phu"
It's close to 4000 island and one of the attractions close by the city is Tad Fan waterfall located 40km away.
Downtown center where the old town area is you'll see this beautiful Catholic church standing peaceful right in the middle of the city and of course there are quite a few beautiful Buddhist temples nearby as well like Wat Luang the biggest temple in the city. When you walk around the city you'll be surprised how many colonial buildings there are and more surprised is there are so many vietnamese people living in this city.

Hi folks, NatNomad here. An ex-Buddhist monk from Laos with a big dream of seeing the world. Throughout my time for over 10 years being a monk I kept asking myself one question "What life is like out there beyond the monastery?" and because of this question alone made me take a big step in 2014 when I finally say goodbye to my wonderful monastic life.
And now I'm doing what I've always wanted to do. Though I am not quite sure if I can say that I'm living my dream but you know what I'm loving my new adventure.
Please make sure to stick with me so we can explore new exotic places together.
Let the adventure begins!
Thanks so much for your support.

Thank you for your video. I was in Pakse in July 2013. I have the souvenir of a quiet city. Then i visited the Boloven by scooter and reached Sekong with a lot of rain and a flat tire twice in the same morning. But i enjoyed it. I stayed at Pakse Hotel which has a roof restaurant where we can have a nice view. People in Laos are very nice and helpful. I remember eating sticky rice 😉 I come from Switzerland 🇨🇭

Hello, greetings from Delhi, India. Nice video. Planning to visit Vat Phou, Hindu temples, next month. And than to Seim Reap and Preah Vihar temples in Cambodia. Need your help… Suggest a good hotel in Pakse in the marketplace. Can I cross overland( bus or taxi) borders to Cambodia, Seim Reap or Preah Vihar temples. Or by air from Pakse to Seim Reap, Cambodia. Thanks

Hi there, thanks for checking my video. For the hotel if you into luxury do check out Champa Palace Hotel, that has lots of history and yet very beautiful one. I used booking.com to book my accommodation when i was there. It was a guesthouse but very comfortable. You can take bus from Pakse to Steng Trung just by the border town in Cambodia and then from there to either Siem Reap or Phnom Penh.

Hello there, I’m planning to visit Pakse soon. Is there anything else to do besides waterfalls and temples? How many days do you need to spend time in Pakse? and is it worth it to visit? Thanks in advance!
@natnomad
@natnomad 2 жыл бұрын
Well Pakse itself doesn't have much to do apart from what you just mentioned, the waterfall, Temple and the viewpoint. I think two days is enough and in my opinion it's worth a visit. You may like it, and if you have enough time maybe also take a visit to coffee plantation in Pak Song as well. Never been there myself but many said it's beautiful plateau and nice nature. Good luck

I have one question: how easy (or difficult) is it for a foreigner to rent a motor bike? Thanks.
@natnomad
@natnomad 2 жыл бұрын
Very easy, they will have your passport as deposit and give it back to you when you return the motorbike. I paid 130,000 Kip or around $9 for one-day rent. Good luck
