Chris, you are amazing! I’ll be backpacking next week in a gorgeous alpine wilderness of Washington. I wanted to test timelapse photography prior to my trip. This is exactly what I needed to get myself started. I setup my Fujifilm X-T3 with my Fujinon 16-80mm (I know that you don’t love this lens, but its perfect for backpacking [weather/dust resistant & OIS]) and set everything to manual, just like you said (I decided not to disengage the lens and didn’t notice ill effects). I nailed it on the first try! On top of this, it only took me about 2 minutes to figure out how to turn it into a proper video using LumaFusion on my iPad Pro. I just want you to know that you are helping me become a better photographer-you are helping all of us become better photographers.

Well, here I am: A novice to photograpy, I have raked the YT and have not found a channel that would give as thorough, clear, and as practical instructions on how to use my Sony rx100 as yours on Fujifilm. So, i went ahead and got me a bearly used x-t30. For one, the fact that the most imortant settings are right on top rather than in the abyss of settings inside the camera is a blessing. Then, you make all the proceses so easy to learn. For this greenhorn, this makes it another blessing. Yes, the F camera is much heavier than the tiny S, but after watching a number of your films for days on now (my neighbors must think some talkative man has moved in with me 😆), I have decided to take both cameras to my 7 day… ultralight hike around Bornholm beginning of August. The neighbors will hear you talk a LOT before I go as I have a ton to learn and practice still. Anyway, your content gives me hope and inspires to grow my newfound hobby. THANK YOU! Ps. Greetings from Krakow, Poland!

When I was in high school (~2008ish), I worked for a small company that made time lapse equipment for civil engineering projects, mostly bridge construction. It was super cool but mostly went over my head. We made solar powered intervalometers with waterproof housings that kept a Canon DSLR going for months on end. A five-minute time lapse would cover two years of construction. Now I'm 30 and finally getting back into this incredible hobby and photography in general. Thanks for your wisdom!

Although I have an X-T30, I've learned so much from watching your videos. I appreciate the way you get in-depth into the settings and share your occasional frustrations. I always appreciate watching time lapse but never until now, after watching your video, realized I can do it, so thank you very much. I’ll watch it again, just to make a list of what I need to do before going out as well as what I’ll need to do once on site. Having a check list will make all the difference for me until I become familiar with the settings. I just got into astrophotography and now I’ll have this to add to my repertoire. Thanks again. I’ve been shooting since I was a kid of ten. I’m 79 and once again, with the XT1 (converted to IR), XT2 and most recently the XT3, I’m having as much fun as when I first started out. Love the camera and again, loved this video. I’ve been inspired which is a gift in itself.

But when I start taking pictures with a slower shutter speed just before the sunrise I end up with a severly overexposed photos 20 minutes later, when the sun will be a few degress over the horizon! @@andyobrien6263 Thanks Andy! Give it a go. Not a lot of lenses work with it, but the 35mm did for me. Just be extra careful. Remember that the lens is not attached as firmly to the camera. 10:57 - I disagree. My X-T30 RAW's are about 40MB, so 240 x 40MB = 9,6GB. As you can see 16GB card is more than enough (for one 10-second time lapse, of course ;) 22:53 - but why do you need to turn the AutoWB off, if you edit your RAW's later in Lightroom? You can set the same color temperature to all the RAWs while editing...

A fantastic tutorial, I was actually wondering why the annoying flickering is still appearing if I am in all-manual but never thought about what you explained, that makes perfect sense. And now I do wonder for the "lens twist" if this also can be achieved if I put a very slight amount of thin tape where the connector between the lens and the mount is in order to "cut" that connection (in cases where the actual twist doesn't work? Also, another question is - if you still use the Auto WB, but then use Auto WB lock, will this be ok? :)
